John Mahama went to cut sod for the construction of a night market in Dormaa. Dormaahene, in his speech, told John Mahama that his predecessor, Nana Akufo-Addo had already built a beautiful market for the people of Dormaa, and then went ahead to eulogise the former president. A Delta businessman, Mr Emmanuel Mouka, has petitioned the Inspector General of police to investigate his security guard over fears of a conspiracy spanning from attacks in 2022 where similar incidents occurred which he reported to the police but was instead detained. Mr Mouka, who lives in Delta State, stated in the petition written by his solicitors, Hon.Peter Mrakpor SAN, the honorable former Attorney General of Delta State, that he installed security cameras to ensure the security of lives and properties within his premises in Otite, Sapele, Delta State. He added that he also employed a security personnel from a security company.

Records show that President Bola Tinubu was one of the earliest and strongest advocates for state police. Over the years, the argument was weakened by fears that governors might turn state police into personal militias. However, when one looks at the facts, the rising insecurity and the shortage of police officers in critical areas across the states have made the case for state police much stronger. According to police the lights aren’t the problem and are allowed and normally put in by a security company. But the sirens aren’t.
