Whether you agree or disagree with Ancelotti’s decision regarding João Pedro, this moment here really is what changed everything for the player from my point of view. Let me explain below👇🏽 João Pedro entered the March call with a reportedly “GUARANTEED” spot at the World Cup. The player who had not been convincing for Brasil during all his appearances, ended up missing one of the best opportunities during this match against Croatia. I genuinely think if this goes in, this whole discussion on him going to the World Cup is closed and sealed. However this match ended up going right to the dying moments, where Endrick and Igor Thiago (his real competition; Luiz Henrique/Martinelli/Etc. have nothing to do with this) completely changed the match and is key for why Brasil won this game. Right after the game Ancelotti admitted in the press conference that deciding the final squad got much harder…and I think this was key in that decision.

So I could see him beginning to get anxious and antsy. Some of the news reports got it wrong. Some of the news reports said that he left before Cecilia argued. That’s not true. She got completely through her opening argument and was beginning to field questions. I think the first question was from Justice Thomas, and others. That’s when the president—he just doesn’t like to hear bad news. And I would have loved to have been six feet behind him when the decision came down.

His team has struggled to find consistency without perimeter scoring and floor spacing, especially as their three-point shooting has dipped to around 28% in Devin Vassell’s absence. Just a suggestion to save yourself some frustration- if you’re trying to guage the real value of this squad, longtime Spurs fans know to follow the SPAM rule: Spurs Peak After March. The best version of this team might still be on the way.

A number of you have asked about the call at the end of the 1st Half of the Bethel Football game at NCC Football in which there was a potential fumble/TD wiped off the board for Bethel that eventually led to no score by the Royals. The full play and a breakdown of issues with the call are in the video below. To be clear, though: 1) It appears that the receiver did not possess the ball at or past the NCC 8, which was needed for the 1st Down (the officials gave the ball to Bethel at the 8 after the overturn, awarding a 1st down). 2) It seems like the wing official was marking forward progress but may not have blown his whistle. It is unclear how he affected the overturn decision in the first place. What is clear is that the officials on the field awarded a fumble and TD, meaning they did not rule forward progress had been stopped. As a result, this aspect of the play is NOT reviewable by rule, as it is a judgment call in real time. 3) No TD should have been awarded before the review in the first place, as the ball clearly was fumbled to the lineman, and fumbles on 4th down in college football can only be advanced by the fumbling player. The ball would have been marked at the spot of the fumble in that case. 4) The officials missed a clear Roughing the Passer call, as the NCC defender went for the Bethel QB's legs while he was in his passing stance. This would have been a half-the-distance and automatic-first-down foul. If this play was called correctly in the first place, it should have been called dead with forward progress stopped at the 8 1/2 yard line and the Roughing foul pushing the ball to the 4 1/4 yard line, 1st & Goal Bethel, with the clock stopped due to penalty. No matter what, though, the Roughing penalty would have ensured Bethel had the ball closer to the goal with 16 seconds left (when forward progress stoppage should have been called).
