Unfortunately, once again, he gets basic facts wrong and misleads: 1️⃣ Every nuclear reactor that is built is not a “bespoke engineering experiment”. There are many different models of reactors that have been deployed around the world and when built in a fleet significant savings emerge. 2️⃣ Hinkley Point C is not a “single nuclear reactor site”. It has 2 reactors. This is the same lie that he also made to the nuclear parliamentary committee. 3️⃣ The Hinkley costing (which their estimate was based) on isn’t just the cost to build. It also factors in waste storage, decommissioning etc. 4️⃣ As I and others repeated many times their methodology wasn’t just to extrapolate the cost of the most expensive nuclear project ever but DOUBLE it. The result: even the CSIRO said nuclear costs at least 5x less. The SmartEnergyCouncil is a disinformation machine at best. The renewable industry deserves better representation.
