The biggest announcement from NVIDIA GTC was just released! It's the open sourcing of TWO Radiance Field methods, 3D Gaussian Ray Tracing and 3D Gaussian Unscented Transform from NVIDIA AI Developer. Not only has the code been released, but they come with an Apache 2.0 License, meaning you can use these methods commercially. This is the same license that Nerfstudio carries and is a big win for the community! 3DGRT introduces a pure ray tracing implementation, while 3DGUT brings the effects of ray tracing, such as secondary lighting effects to rasterization. Holy Crap! nVidia DLSS 4.5 and even Framegen might be GOOD now. LinusTechTips: "I hate that Fake Frames are good now": - DLSS 4.5 is MUCH SHARPER on upscaling than even the source material. Particles stand out, image quality better than source. - Fake Frames up to 6x, but not how you think. Think no more frame-drops as framegen is dynamic now. Only when you need them. Linus can't even tell when its on or off in most cases now. Watch video highlight below for details.

Unlike ray tracing or path tracing, which require additional runtime computation, this lighting is based on implied patterns, so it incurs the same cost as generating a scene without lighting. As these pattern interpreters scale to recognize more complex patterns, we'll achieve more and better implied interactions essentially for 'free' with each generation. What’s even better is that once we start working with scenes composed of tokenized assets or dynamic neural assets, we’ll have greater control than with traditional pipelines. Moreover, instead of starting with isolated objects and having to apply interactions manually, we'll have assets that naturally interact with their environment unless we explicitly specify otherwise.

The new Indiana jones game is best looking game I’ve ever played The full path tracing mode is truly the first time I’ve been awestruck with ray tracing. Every room GI, every material’s speculars, every object on a shelf, every leaf and branch just looks… right! To me, it’s the first time I’ve felt like a game has taken a “next-gen” leap in visuals over the past decade or two honestly. Unlike hellblade II, this game is also really fun and charming, with incredibly well written and acted cutscenes, fantastic sound, and great gameplay. Way better than it has any right to be. Easily my GOTY

Path Tracing on PS5 Pro even as a demo and at 30fps, pretty much confirms at least some games will use PT on PS6, which I said months ago but some said I was crazy for suggesting. PC gamers won't want to admit it, but next-gen the gap between console and higher end PC may shrink in terms of real world differences, bolstered by more competent RT and AI upscaling tech in the next-gen consoles. Keep in mind Valve already confirmed what Steam data already showed, that "the steam machine is equal or better than ~70% of what people have at home", and the Steam Machine is reportedly similar in perfomance to the BASE PS5. In regards to PT in F1 on PS5 Pro, I say drop the base resolution further (there's examples of PSSR 2 looking great even at 864p) and give us 40fps or higher. Also, this is a reason the future/RDNA4 RT tech and custom AI hardware in PS5 Pro was noteworthy. The "2-3x" PS5's RT performance Cerny quoted clearly wasn't just PR bluster. Outside of this demo, it's already allowing WAY better RT than PS5 in some games (Cyberpunk, F1, AC Shadows etc), with better image quality and/or perfomance to boot. Such demo's show there's potentially more to extract, especially for quality modes. #PS5Pro #PS6

I created a 3D Gaussian Splat of my kitchen using 1/3rd the images it used to take me by using NVIDIA AI Developer's 3DGRUT! I can now use 180 degree fisheye images and ray tracing to make detailed splats. The only reason the scene isn't sharper is because my input images weren't super sharp - when I took the images back in October, I was still learning to use the lens. I plan to make a "first reactions/overview video". Tutorial after that. For reference, this took 206 images and the ultrawide on my iPhone took 608 images to capture. #3D #AEC #Computervision

🚨 GEARS OF WAR E DAY OPINION!...🚨 Everybody keeps asking me Where is Gears of War E Day, where is the Gameplay, Release Date, New Trailer, anything seeing as how we are almost four months in to 2026 and I would say the Answers can be found in the Past to Reveal the Future, if your confused you haven't been paying attention!... 👀💥⚙️ In October 2023 I was the first to report on the sixth mainline Gears of War game an Unnannounced Coalition game was set to release sometime in 2026 and 3 years later it looks to finally be happening! 👀😱⚙️ I also discussed a Gears of War Direct show focusing on a deep dive into the new game after Xbox began yearly dedicated game shows! 🧐🤯⚙️ Then on September 20th 2025 after the release of Gears of War Reloaded I uploade a Youtube video discussing my own personal opinion that if there is no E Day at the January 2026 Developer Direct, then it would likely be the Xbox Games Summer Showcase E Day Direct, which again Playground Games were the focus with Fable & Forza Horizon 6 & if we look at Gears of War E Day it is the only Xbox Games Studio first party title confirmed for a 2026 release with zero gameplay shown, no exact release date window & we are already almost four months into the year there must be a reason for that... 🤔🎮⚙️ This is why I have believed since 2023 that the best way to celebrate Gears of War E Day and also the franchise 20th annviersary is with a dedicated E Day Direct show that potentially based on Xbox announcement last year could be announced as early as April 7th/14th if the Xbox Games Showcase were to be happening on either Sunday June 7th or 14th! 🫡🔥⚙️ It is very frustrating that there is no Gears of War E Day marketing happening right now I wish I had more to cover for content & to help build community engagement & hype but there must be a plan for why it looks like we may just have to wait until the Xbox Games Showcase in June for Gears of War Re-Emergence to finally begin, just a little more patience we are almost back Gears Fam! 🙏🤞⚙️

There are two things worth pointing out about upscaling in #AssassinCreed Black Flag Resynced. 1. Incorrect resolution scaling with Balanced and Performance modes: Using Balanced or Performance with any upscaler causes the game's Resolution Scale (output resolution) to drop, which also lowers the internal render resolution. As a result, these modes apply incorrect scaling and the image quality is noticeably worse than it should be. For now, the workaround is to set the Resolution Scale to 100% and manually adjust the Max Dynamic Resolution (internal resolution) to match the expected scaling for Balanced or Performance mode. 2. The game defaults to the older DLSS 3 CNN model: By default, the game uses the older DLSS 3 Preset E. While it's still a fine option, it doesn't match the image quality of the DLSS 4 Transformer model (Preset K) or the newer DLSS 4.5 (Preset L and M). So I highly recommend forcing at least Preset K through the NVIDIA App (or another tool). Even on RTX 20/30 series GPUs, with Preset K, you can maintain the same performance as before while getting better image quality by using a lower upscaling mode, like Balanced instead of Quality. Hopefully Ubisoft Support fixes the scaling issue and adds an in-game option to choose between DLSS 3, DLSS 4, and DLSS 4.5.

If you're using an Nvidia GPU, have you recently start noticing high system RAM usage across all Unreal Engine 5 games ? While testing the launch version of Stalker 2, I saw extremely high RAM usage and the only things running are the game + Discord. I first noticed this a while ago and assumed it only affected newer UE5 titles (like Gears of War: E-Day and the Halo CE). It turns out it also affects older UE5 games. Now I'm wondering if it's just my system or if more people are seeing this. If so, it could potentially be related to a recent Nvidia driver, a Windows update, or something else. Would love to investigate this further but unfortunately I don’t have the time with all the games coming out.
