Important Takeaways from the DG Media Chat on NYSC Mobilization 1️⃣ Batch A Stream 2 (A2) corps members are expected to enter camp towards the end of April. 2️⃣ There will be NO new NYSC registration for Batch A2. Any upcoming registration will be strictly for Batch B1. 3️⃣ Only prospective corps members (PCMs) who registered in 2025 earlier will be deployed for Batch A2 camp. 4️⃣ NYSC received a waiver from NERD for those who registered in 2025. This means PCMs who already registered in 2025 do NOT need to upload NERD again, including those going for A2. 5️⃣ The next NYSC portal opening will be for Batch B1 registration, as NYSC is preparing to meet its INEC responsibilities for the 2027 elections. 6️⃣ Institutions have been allowed to upload graduation lists to help speed up preparation for Batch B1 mobilization. 7️⃣ Registration for Batch B1 may happen while A2 are in camp or immediately after A2 camp ends. 8️⃣ PCMs preparing for Batch B1 must upload their NERD, as mandated by the government. Since I assumed the position of Minister of Education, I have received numerous messages and letters from Part-time ND and HND students and those who have transitioned to full-time courses about their exemption from National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). As I told the students at Yaba Tech today, the Federal Ministry of Education and our agencies stand with you. The Presidency stands with you as well. You should not be exempted from participating in NYSC. I will be meeting with the Director-General of the NYSC in March to discuss this matter further. A solution is on the way.

PUBLIC LETTER: NYSC MUST APOLOGIZE FOR THREATENING A DEPRESSED CORPS MEMBER. The recent actions of the NYSC Lagos Secretariat in allegedly threatening a female corps member for expressing her frustration over the rising cost of living are deeply disturbing. This young woman, overwhelmed by inflation, rent hikes, and the daily struggle to survive, was reduced to tears. Instead of offering support, the NYSC, an institution responsible for the welfare of corps members, chose to intimidate her into silence. Her only “offense” was calling the President terrible at his job. This is a democracy, not a dictatorship. The President is not above criticism, and no government institution has the right to bully a citizen for expressing their views. A corps member crying out due to economic hardship should receive reassurance, not threats. Depression is real, and dismissing her distress while trying to suppress her voice is both heartless and undemocratic. NYSC must call its Lagos Secretariat to order and issue a formal apology to this corps member. It must also reaffirm its commitment to the well-being of those serving Nigeria, rather than acting as a tool of oppression. The right to free speech is nonnegotiable, and any attempt to stifle it is a disgrace to the values Nigeria claims to uphold.

Today I held two important meetings to review the progress on creation of the new TMARS-Traffic Management and Road Safety Bureau of TG and the TADASC- Telangana Anti Drug & Safety Committees in all educational institutions. Work on these has been going on for the last couple of months and is nearing fruition The TMARS is proposed to lead to standardisation of Traffic Management practices across the state and also enhance road safety through Highway patrolling and also taken up maintenance of traffic signals, setting up new ones , road signages and infra etc. The TADASC will extend the drive against narcotics into all educational institutions and make educational institutions responsible for spotting and informing the law enforcement authorities about any suspicious behaviour of students . The students will have to give affidavits regarding drugs and the educational institutions will be liable for not implementing this. They will appoint campus safety coordinators and work with students and authorities and will also look into ragging, acts against dignity of girl students, traffic awareness. Unless we save our next generation against this danger, we are going to lose this war against Drugs. #TelanganaPolice
