How can this be attributed to anything more than heat induced parasympathetic NS activity that could be easily replicated with a hot shower? Is there some other mechanism at play?

Going to have to get more sauna sessions in. The science really seems to be backing this up.

For those of us without access to a sauna, can you suggest a way to jerryrig similar effect? A friend laid on her 6 foot long infrared gemstone mat, and placed a cheaper one over her, and then a blanket. She would sweat like a sauna.
