🚨 Bombshell announcement! 🚨 I’ve had to keep this to myself for the last couple of weeks, and it has been incredibly difficult. But we can finally announce it publicly… The Austin Metcalf Foundation is officially live! I am so proud of Jeff. In the face of an unimaginable tragedy, he has found a way to turn grief into purpose. Austin’s legacy will continue to live on through this foundation, and I couldn’t be more honored to be a part of that journey. I also promise this: I will keep Austin’s name alive for as long as I breathe. We will continue telling Austin’s story so that he is never forgotten. 📖 A book is also in the works! We’re still working through the logistics and determining the best way to tell this story, but it is happening. I’m also incredibly excited for Bruce. It was only fitting that he be asked to serve on the board, and I know he’ll help make a real difference. Yesterday, on the floor of the House of Representatives, I stood alongside colleagues and fellow visionaries to formally announce our registration with the NDC. This decision was not taken lightly. Having served my people faithfully and delivered tangible results in Awka North and South, I realized that to deepen our progress and truly secure a better future, we must align with a movement that embodies fairness, accountability, and opportunity for all. That vision is what Mr. Peter Obi represents, and it is the vision I share. I am proud to announce that I will be contesting under the NDC to continue representing my people. Our journey has always been about service, and now it enters a new chapter, one that will strengthen our constituency and contribute to building the New Nigeria we all desire. I am so grateful for this journey and for every single one of you who has chosen to be here with us. First, I wanna thank my teammates. Thank you for putting up with me. Thank you for helping shape a kid full of piss and vinegar. Thank you for doing your best to keep me out of trouble. Thank you for keeping me alive. To my superiors/commanders, I’m sorry for all you had to put up with. The middle age man version of me would’ve probably destroyed that kid that showed up to your team room. When you’re in the public eye, as I have been for some time now, you expect to be scrutinized. That comes with the territory. What you don’t expect is to have members of your own community rip apart painful stories that you’ve laid bare to the best of your ability. Stories that were corroborated by multiple people. Stories that passed legal review. Stories that passed extensive DOD review. Do I think the battle happened exactly the way I remember it 16 years later? No, I don’t. Which is why I addressed that in the introduction to my book. Scars and Stripes was originally called “Failure is Not Final” but the publisher thought we needed a more upbeat and catchy name. Name change notwithstanding, I’m proud of the book. I’m proud of the people I talk about in the book. I’m proud of my service. In this video I address some of the things the podcast charged me with. I know it will not satisfy them as they make their money by trying to bring people down with more followers than they possess. I also know it will not satisfy their most steadfast supporters. I look forward to hearing about 50 grenades from no name private accounts on pictures of my kids until the day I die. It’s not my first internet rodeo. For those of you are reasonable, I ask that you listen to what I have to say, assess whether it is more likely that I fabricated all this stuff and all the people around me and DOD just went along with it, or whether someone went through the book in the least gracious way possible in order to profit off of my name. My precious darlings, Tomorrow I have to do one of the hardest things I have ever done. I have to see one of the two people closest to my heart...twenty years old...dead. This is going to be the hardest thing I have faced since my father died. I am not saying who. I will not. They are one of the two I would protect with my life, and I still will. Their name stays with the four of you who already know, and it stays in my chest. I am sorry to be cryptic. I know that can feel unfinished. Unlike a lot of people, I do not put my whole life out there, and I am not about to start now. I am looking at tomorrow with a very certain kind of dread. My heart has been stable. That is the truth I can give you today. But there is no telling how it is going to react when I walk into that room. Julie will be with me. My surgeon is on call. Keep me close in your thoughts. If anything needs to be said after, my twin will update you. I love her so much. She has been wonderful with me through all of this. My precious darlings, Tomorrow I have to do one of the hardest things I have ever done. I have to see one of the two people closest to my heart...twenty years old...dead. This is going to be the hardest thing I have faced since my father died. I am not saying who. I will not. They are one of the two I would protect with my life, and I still will. I’m excited to share this performance video of “You Could Start A Cult” with you today: It’s the first of many performances that I shot with Vevo as a part of their Extended Play series that will be coming out over the next few weeks. Performing live is my favourite thing to do. To bring the songs I’ve spent so much time with, seen through from start to finish is an amazing feeling. Shooting these performances with Vevo was a really special experience. I was able to go back to the place where I made the music, an area of California I adore and have spent a lot of time in over my career.
