Dear Meher Kilaru, Based on the concerns reiterated by you through your recent post referring to an earlier complaint, The Food Safety Team conducted an inspection today. During the inspection, unhygienic conditions were observed and the Food license has been suspended. The premises have been closed for rectification and will be permitted to resume operations only after re-inspection and revocation of the suspension upon satisfactory compliance with the prescribed Food Safety standards.

The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has officially deployed a sanitation enforcement task force, popularly known as “Saman Saman” or “Tankas,” across the metropolis to intensify the enforcement of sanitation regulations. As part of the exercise, sanitation officers inspected communities, engaged residents, and arrested individuals who allegedly failed to comply with the Assembly’s sanitation by-laws. The suspects were subsequently processed at the Prempeh Assembly Hall District Court. The KMA has urged residents to keep their homes, streets, and gutters clean, stressing that the citywide enforcement exercise will continue as part of efforts to improve sanitation and reduce the risk of flooding.

An illegal miner reportedly clashed with members of an anti-galamsey task force after they allegedly destroyed his excavator and halted his mining operations. The visibly enraged miner confronted the task force, declaring that no matter what actions were taken against them, they would continue their galamsey activities. He ended his outburst by invoking curses on the task force members, should they accept bribes or money from other illegal miners.

The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has taken enforcement action against McDan Group by partially sealing the administrative block of its Electrochem salt mining operations at the Songor Lagoon in Ada over an unpaid tax debt of approximately GH¢8.6 million. Following an initial payment of GH¢200,000 by the company, the GRA has given Electrochem seven days to clear the outstanding balance. The Authority has cautioned that failure to settle the debt within the deadline could result in additional enforcement measures.
