Ofwat is a busted regulator with no teeth whatsoever. That’s why the Liberal Democrats will replace it with a Clean Water Authority and spend £10M to recruit sewage inspectors. This would stop water companies from marking their own homework and mean real consequences for sewage dumping.

@LibDems Lib Dems have the best policy proposals. A water regulator with teeth. This is what we need. #LibDems #GE2024

@LibDems Just nationalise the water companies without compensation.

@LibDems Where would the £450-600 billion required to separate the sewage and storm water system in order to stop CSOs from spilling sewage into our rivers and seas come from @LaylaMoran?

@LibDems You don't want to re - nationalise.

@LibDems I applaud the idea but you might want to rethink the job title 🤢

@LibDems Why will changing the name from Ofwat to ‘Clean Water Authority’ help? You must be aware that you’ll have to employ most of the same people because they are the only ones with expertise. Why not just change the mandate of Ofwat?

@DavidHeadViews @LibDems Will you also look into what obligations can be imposed on past shareholders who milked and ran? Particularly those who still own assets here?

@LibDems Sounds nice Layla, but why do you not simply nationalise the water companies first? That sorts out most of the causes. Are the LibDems libertarian, like Tories and Labour? Please let your voters know.

@LibDems the tories cut staff to the ministry of enviroment years ago to safe money.they tested the water rivers ect.and they closed offices.

@LibDems Better to be rid of the water companies entirely, surely? Let them go bust & nationalise them for free.
