cs devs completely lost the sauce. all they care about are just cases and skins, and the very occasional bug, & gameplay fixes, but never the anti cheat

When John Ricchio (Producer on GTA 5 & RDR1) would interview devs to work at Rockstar he would warn people that " Rockstar is run by crazy people but you get to work on the best games in the world, that is the exchange." At least devs knew what they were getting into lol.

Indie game dev is really weird. Seen a lot of commentary lately advising people not to share work or progress before the game is finished, lest someone else steal the idea. I've been building in public for over 300 days now, going back to rendering a single triangle. Is this wrong? If you aren't sharing your work, how would you expect to get any attention when you launch? There are hundreds of new games released on steam each week. Is working in the shadows gonna help break through there? Really curious what other devs are doing. Are you sharing progress/building in public, or hiding in the shadows until you have a demo or release date locked down? Anyway, here is what I've built so far:

Say what you want about Valve, I am SO grateful that Alyx is completely accessible using one controller. The one Half-Life game I haven't played, and I can play it after losing my arm!!! Thank you Valve :)

When I say game devs are terrified of GTA 6, I am not exaggerating, they have felt this way for 2 years or so. What Filip says here is basically how most game devs feel, they just aren't as open about it lol. No one wants to release anywhere near GTA 6, it's suicide.

Gamers don't realise how much game devs sacrifice to make a game. The amount of stories I have heard over the years about marriages ending or coming close to ending because of devs doing crazy hours particularly at the end of a project is unfortunately very common! Here is one example, towards the end of Portal 2 the lead designers wife was threatening to leave him because he was pretty much living at Valve, so he made the decision to step back and delegate to another team member. (I've met his wife, she is lovely.) Even with my interviews my wife sacrifices a lot for me to be able to do it and it's something I struggle to balance. With great success, usually comes great cost.
