I would have simply done 250*3 - 5*3 = 750-15=735

Multiply 250 by 3 and subtract 5 into 3. That is much easier

What I do is 250*3 and minus 15

So the new math takes so much longer. I don’t get!

is that truly the process theyre teaching. Had a friend telling me about helping his child with math and he said it was a long process.

The right one is how I do it on my head and the left is how I do it on paper.

"New math" was already there in the 1980s....

My math - 245 rounded up to 250 X 3 is 750, then subtract the 15 that I added from 750 = 735. Done in my head in about 2 seconds

(3X250) - (3X5) =735

Basically, AI Slop these days. Make thing complicated than simplified it.
