Woah 🤯 Problem is I'll never remember this when the time comes 🤣

Genius until you realize that 0% of baseboards have rectangular profile.

A lot of trade worker are secret geniuses

@MikeN69011856 Only works if the wall is perfectly square to the panel and wall is straight, which typically neither are.

@NotoriousAKG Okay for plain rectangular trim but most mouldings are milled.

And anyone who's done that work in real life knows this won't work as nicely as it does in the video. Real houses don't have any angles that are PRECISELY 90°.

The edit job was perfect, as was the wood work.

Btw - I have a little bit work to do in my new apartment... I tried that before, too much fo my brains...🥴 (and I haven't done that 👇).

I remember as a kid frustrated classmates saying “why do I need math, I’m going to be a carpenter”. Of all the trades you have to use math. 🤦♂️ They didn’t relate carpentry to geometry and trigonometry until teachers explained it. Best part was their grades instantly improved.

Man: Babe, look at what I did! Woman: There's still a little gap.

Neat and good to know but you need a tape measure to run trim anyway and your saw will have a 45 degree angle built in. This trick saved him one out of a minimum of 3 measurements and possibly marked the wrong edge, depending on the saw.

Who knew carpentry would get you a quarter million views 🤓 nice

Genius? Any master carpenter learned this as an apprentice. 🤣

If only my baseboard was a flat rectangle

Now the wood grain is flipped upside down on the return.

Where knowledge and skills comes in place

are you doing this in your camping tent?

I'm so sick of this dumb shit. So you just have two pieces of base ending in the middle of walls somewhere? Just use a tape measure and cut your miters to 46.5 degrees.

If that were actual baseboard, the millwork would end up on the wrong side, when you turned it upside down.

Only issue is a master carpenter is coping that inside 90 because that's how we compensate for shrinkage over time. Gaps be damned!

lol or you could just use a tape measure and cut the 45 degree angles and not waste extra time.

Wow I’m a carpenter and haven’t seen this trick. Very cool

@drainoSwampo Me cutting angles is like a 5 year old driving a sports car

Somewhere out this is a handyman who one told his teacher that geometry is useless, and now realizes that he has to eat his word

So 45 degree angles then just reverse the block?

@DonnePetro It’s an art @mrunrefined

Slick

👏💪👍🙏

If I lived till I was 100 I would never ever have been genius enough to work this out. Very very Clever Stuff! 👏👏👏👏👏👏

What kind of baseboard is that???

1本の木から作ったら1行程減らせるし無駄も無くなるよ。騙されないで。

This is why a good carpenter is worth it!

Did he hit his finger with a hammer?
