If they are not registered within 21 days, they will be shut down immediately. Greg Abbott announces a statewide crackdown on birth tourism, saying Texas will investigate, prosecute, and shut down operations tied to the practice: “I issued an executive order today ordering all state agencies to crack down on any allegation of birth tourism, which is where people come from other countries into our country for the purpose of having a child born here so that child receives United States citizenship.
