British Columbia's far-left NDP premier David Eby says he's trying to attract doctors to move to his province. But now he just announced he's going to hike income taxes on doctors by 2%. This will drive doctors OUT of BC. Lorne Doerkson is asking the simple question: what in the world is David Eby thinking?

Our policies in 2025 set the table for the incredible results we will see in 2026. Last year, Republicans DELIVERED — key fiscal reforms, reeled in spending saving hundreds of billions, and a $1.6 TRILLION deficit reduction through the Working Families Tax Cut. On top of that — President Trump’s trade agenda is bringing in HUNDREDS OF BILLIONS in new revenue, shrinking the trade deficit, and driving TRILLIONS in investment back home. As a result, GDP is climbing well beyond expectations, and inflation is way down. The best is yet to come.

David Eby is out today slamming Trump’s tariffs as an “economic attack” and “indefensible” He even called the Canada-US dynamic “the definition of an abusive relationship” — one where America wants all the benefits while punishing Canadian workers Bold diagnosis from the premier whose government turned a surplus into record deficits, doubled provincial debt, and left private property rights under a cloud of uncertainty through DRIPA and court outcomes Tariffs will hurt. Softwood duties higher than Russia’s are unfair. But pointing south while BC’s fiscal hole and investment chill were made in Victoria is pure distraction.Leaders own their record. Eby can’t evade responsibility by reframing domestic failures as someone else’s “abuse.” British Colombians are in an abusive relationship with Eby David Eby

Did you see the news today? Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll testified in front of the legislature in support of a bill that would allow cities and towns to increase your auto excise tax by 300%. This would enable cities and towns to increase the auto excise tax from 2.5% to 7.5%. Massachusetts families are already paying too much in taxes. The last thing they need is a higher auto excise tax. When I’m governor, we will cut taxes, get spending under control, and we’ll get Massachusetts back on track. #magov #mapoli

‼️NEW: On January 3, Ukraine will host a meeting at the NSA level. On January 6, a leaders-level meeting will take place in France. On January 7, there will be another NSA-level meeting, followed by a meeting of all leaders with U.S. President Donald Trump. All of this is scheduled throughout January. "On January 3, we plan to meet in Ukraine all the NSA – national security advisors. All the advisors who will come to us. And we will discuss all the documents, all the developments and additional things. Next: President Macron, together with the European leaders, will host a meeting at the level of leaders on January 6 in France, so far we have such an agreement – in France. At that point we will discuss everything that was worked out by our advisors, we will review it as leaders. This meeting is on January 6. There will also be meetings of more advisors on January 7 after this revision. And then we will discuss the next steps in preparing for the meeting of the leaders of Europe and the United States of America," — Zelenskyy told journalists on Tuesday, Dec. 30.

I’ve got some bad news- the auto excise tax increase bill that Maura Healey proposed is making its way through the legislature. This is a bill that would allow cities and towns to triple the auto excise tax. That’s right- it would be a 300% increase. You would potentially be paying 7.5% on your auto excise tax as opposed to the current rate of 2.5%. That would mean the average working family in Massachusetts would be paying thousands more in excise tax when they buy a new car. Massachusetts families are already paying too much. The last thing we need is a higher excise tax. When I’m governor, we’ll cut taxes and cut utility bills to make the state more affordable for working families. #magov #mapoli

There's a common error that I see in some Excel models today that results in a property being undervalued. Since property values have fallen in many markets over the last few years, a new buyer's NOI will likely be higher than the existing owner's NOI because the new buyer's property taxes will be lower. If you were to estimate the value of your property based on a cap rate and the in-place NOI without adjusting the property taxes for the new buyer, then you're likely going to undervalue the property. There's a simple shortcut to estimate the new buyer's NOI based on a reset tax basis without creating a circular reference. Step 1: Add the Property Tax Expense back to the NOI Step 2: Add the Tax Rate to the Cap Rate Step 3: Divide the higher NOI by the higher cap rate This will equal the same result as using your original cap rate with the buyer's NOI inclusive of the reset property taxes. Note: Property tax calculations based for a new purchase will vary state to state. In California, the property taxes will be based on the new purchase price.

Today was so weird. Look at how they chose to stage David Eby in the press conference out in the rain at the BC Legislature today… The saddest guy in the world standing in the rain… Rob Shaw mentioned the premier didn’t seem angry… and he didn’t. He was uncharacteristically morose and almost somber. Look at him. (Apparently the provincial cabinet was on the steps behind him as a cheer squad? This is just weird…) #bcpoli

New York State has increased its budget by $100 billion in one decade. Since 2013, NYC has increased its budget by $40 billion — a 50% increase in spending. Zohran Mamdani ran on affordability, yet instead of reining in costs, just two months later, he is proposing $9 billion in new statewide taxes and a 9.5% property tax hike. That kind of increase would hit working families and make homeownership even harder in places like Queens and Staten Island. New Yorkers don’t need higher taxes and more spending — they need real solutions that make our state affordable again.

Seattle is finding out the hard way that socialist policies always run out of other people’s money. Just six months under self-described democratic socialist Mayor Katie Wilson, and the city's budget deficit has spiked by another $100M to a massive $488M disaster. Her solution? More crippling capital gains and payroll taxes on businesses that are already fleeing the downtown core. Downtown Seattle has already lost an estimated 30,000 jobs due to crushing payroll taxes, yet Mayor Katie Wilson wants to double down and expand them to cover her spiked $488M budget deficit.

The Working Families Tax Cut is rolling out now — and we are already starting to see the positive results in the economy and Americans getting to keep MORE of their own hard-earned money. After years of being hurt by failed Democrat policies, working families will finally keep more of what they earn: NO TAX on tips, NO TAX on overtime, and $10,000 MORE staying in the average American household. Republicans promised to put working families first — and we’re delivering on that promise.

They did it. Washington Democrats just PASSED $9.5 BILLION in taxes “This is the biggest tax increase in Washington state history.” “We are looking at somewhere in the neighborhood of $8-$10 billion in NEW TAXES on the people of Washington. That's just the taxes to fund the operating budget that doesn't include all the taxes and fees, including a new gas tax and diesel tax to fund the transportation budget, but $8-$10 billion of taxes. This is the biggest tax increase in Washington state history. Despite Democrats' attempts to target those taxes to wealthy Washingtonians and big businesses, they're actually gonna hit ordinary everyday Washingtonians through things like higher housing costs, higher health care costs, higher grocery and food prices. That's unacceptable. — Unfortunately, through the biggest tax increase in Washington state's history, despite the attempts and and claims that it's gonna hit wealthy Washingtonians, a big business, it's just not true. It's gonna hit regular people and your cost of housing, fuel, gas, groceries, health care, all gonna go up, unfortunately.
