Over 70,000 international student graduates face mass deportation as their post-graduate work permits (PGWPs) are set to expire in the next year. PR pathways have become restrictive and unpredictable, with a mounting backlog of files leaving tens of thousands in crisis.

The government tells international students they can “Work, Study & Stay” in Canada. At the height of the pandemic they made it easier for students to work. Now after we have worked to hold up the economy & establish communities here for years, they want to discard us.

This is why students are getting organized in ON, PEI & MB. Our demands include PGWP extensions, stopping LMIA exploitation & fair PR pathways. While we have met with MPs to make our voices heard, with many increasingly losing status we are now exercising our right to protest.

On Saturday, we marched down to Brampton’s busiest bus terminal during a torrential downpour. We distributed flyers, spoke to other workers & chanted “No more Komagata Maru,” a shameful incident of racism in CDN history that stands to be repeated if workers are deported en masse.

Thank you to @OFLabour president @waltonmom who joined us in solidarity on behalf of 54 unions & a million workers in Ontario. ✊🏽 “When you come after one worker, you are coming after every single worker in the province… there is no room for racism & discrimination”

@waltonmom We invite workers across the country, whether you are a citizen or immigrant, to join this fight for justice. An injury to one is an injury to all. Only through solidarity and organized struggle will we win. ✊🏽

We need a pathway to deportation of all of you.

Omg deport them all. GOOO HOMEEEEEEEE

Why do you want to stay in a country where you're not wanted, read the room and pack your shit.

Are we still having this nonsense as one in PEI isn’t enough!
