On Sept. 27, CREC successfully erected the world’s largest railway box girder on the Hangzhou Bay Cross - Sea Railway Bridge. It is 80 meters long and weighs 2,800 tonnes. The team developed 3,000-tonne prefabrication and smart transport technology. ✊

Construction of auxiliary piers for the mid-channel bridge of Hangzhou Bay Sea-Crossing Railway Bridge is completed. Work now advances to the upper pylon section. Linking Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces, the line will connect major rail routes, improve the Yangtze River Delta transport network, shorten travel hours.

India is building the world’s highest and most challenging railway line in the Himalayas. Indian Railways is silently constructing the world’s highest railway line, much higher than China’s Qinghai–Tibet Railway "The Bhanupli–Bilaspur–Leh railway line" Stretching over 490 km through the Himalayas, the line will feature ~70 tunnels, covering more than 50% of the route length (approximately 260 km). The longest tunnel will be 27 km long. The project will also include 100+ major bridges, with the highest elevation reaching 5,359 meters near Taglang La Pass, the highest point any railway line in the world has ever reached. The project is also estimated to be one of the most expensive in Indian Railways history, currently costing around ₹1.3 lakh crore. For comparison, the 500 km MAHSR was initially estimated around ₹1.1 lakh crore. Currently, Phase 1 (Bhanupli → Bilaspur → Beri), spanning ~63 km, is under construction and expected to be completed soon, Hopefully, in the coming years, we will have a direct railway line connecting Leh.

The world’s tallest railway pier bridge is rising in Manipur! From the hills of Manipur, Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji’s vision for last-mile connectivity is taking shape. The Noney Bridge -141m high and 703m long, is being built at a cost of ₹650 crore as part of the ₹21,885 crore Jiribam–Imphal railway line. The bridge is expected to be completed by March 2026, and the entire line by December 2028. As part of my 3-day visit to Manipur, I toured Noney district, reviewed project progress with DC Sharath Chandra ji, IAS, and senior officials from various departments. Once completed, this project will firmly place Manipur on India’s railway map, transforming connectivity and accessibility across the region - a true reflection of Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi ji’s vision to take development to every corner of the nation.
