On the day the #NHSWorkforcePlan is being published, it was fantastic to hear from Coventry University physio students Lucy and Stephen on BBC Breakfast about their experience training. It is vital that the plan sets out to nurture and retain the physio workforce of today and the future.

@covcampus @BBCBreakfast As a Grad Phys Phys student from the early 90s early patient contact was the thing which kept me studying. However, if we are getting students to work then they must be paid/ bursaries are a must.

Carlos Alcaraz says he initially wasn’t sure if he was cramping or if it was an issue with his adductor during his match against Zverev, ‘I just told what happened to the physio & he decided to take a medical’ “I didn’t think it was cramps at all at the beginning. I didn’t know exactly what it was. I ran to a forehand and started to feel it in the right adductor. That’s why I called the physio. Because it was just that moment, the rest of the legs.. the left leg was good. Not good but decent. After that with all the stress I didn’t know what was going on. I didn’t know if it was going to be worse or not. In that moment I just talked to the physio and said ‘Ok I just went to run to the forehand side and I started to feel the right adductor.’ He decided to take the medical time out and he did it. I just told what happened to the physio and he decided to take a medical.” (via Australian Open Press)

It has been an amazing journey for me to accept the role of Pro Chancellor of Albukhary International University. The convocation ceremony today showed me the true essence of what the university is about in uplifting students from unprivileged backgrounds and giving them an opportunity at the very critical point in their lives through higher education. These students with the blessing of the Almighty will go on to become leaders of the future and role models for society. I had the honour of awarding each and every of the 218 graduating students and excited to watch them grow into the future society that we leave behind.
