Jerry Seinfeld says he turned down $110,000,000 for one more season of Seinfeld “I could have gotten more than that. The love affair between the people making the show and the audience was so intense. It was so white hot. I had to respect that. I could not go to that point where it starts to age and wither. It doesn't take long” “For example, you go see a comedian. At an hour and 10 minutes, you love the guy. At an hour and 30 minutes, it's like, ‘I thought he was never going to finish.’ And you walk out with a whole different feeling. It's a small amount of too much” “We had this wonderful, intense love affair between the people making the show and the audience, and I wanted it to end with a fireworks burst. It never was bad”

Rosie O'Donnell says she went to the movie theater to see “Ride or Die” thinking it was a movie, only to be told at the theater that it was showing on TV. "I can't believe how much talent you have. I can't believe. Ted Lasso, you're brilliant. It is a brilliant show. To go from one brilliant show to another... Ride or Die. This is the best series I've seen. I thought it was a movie, Hannah. I thought it was a movie. I went to the movie theater. They're like, 'It's on TV.' And then I went home, and I... it is genius. And you and Octavia have so much chemistry. It is beautiful to watch."

Jerry Seinfeld explains why he turned down $110,000,000 to make another season of Seinfeld. Jerry Seinfeld: “That was Larry David’s idea.” Howard Stern: “NBC didn’t say, ‘Hey, you’re mentioning masturbation’?” Jerry Seinfeld: “Never said the word. One sponsor pulled out of the show that was all I remember in terms of any sort of blowback.” Howard Stern: “Warren Littlefield wrote that if you would have given him another season of Seinfeld, he would have paid you $110,000,000 for the year, and you said no. Is that the ultimate integrity?” Jerry Seinfeld: “I could have gotten more than that. “Integrity is a nice word, and a flattering one. I appreciate that. That’s what’s fun about coming on your show, you really want to be honest, because that’s what you bring to it. “The love affair between the people making the show and the audience was so intense, so white-hot, that I had to respect it. I couldn’t let it get to the point where it started to age and wither. It can only stay that way for so long. “We had this hot, intense season, so the audience would have a feeling that it never was bad.”

Sturm on Steeves who has 5 goals in the last 5 games: "I brought him up from the minors and I put him in more like a checking role and a fourth liner, and now look at him. So, good for him and again, he's a guy I trust. We'll see, it's tough to get him out of the lineup, I can tell you that." "He's very professional, even when he didn't like to go down. I remember he said, 'I will be back and I'm going to do everything I can to show you,' and that's what I like. And the way he said it, I believed it."

Matthew McConaughey says he accepted True Detective in 12 seconds because he stopped caring what size screen it was on "That script comes along. I'm turning the pages and I cannot wait to see what comes outta this character Rustin Cohle's mouth, every single page. It was just hot sh*t. And the identity was so clear" "I then go, there's that question, it's on TV, what are you doing going on TV? I remember calling my agent Jim Toth, and I was like, this question is something we should raise" "And he goes, 'All right, why do you go after all...' I go, 'Man, I want a great role and I want it being a great story. I want great character. I wanna be in a great story'" "And he goes, 'You hear what you said?' I said, 'Yep, and I didn't say a damn thing about what size screen it's on, let's go'" "And we'd made the decision in 12 seconds"

Jackie Gleason, the legendary American comedian and star of "The Honeymooners", on the time he got CBS to send him a private train to Miami: In the 1960s, Gleason decided he didn't want to shoot his show in New York anymore. He wanted to do it in Miami, and he wanted to get there in style. "When we're doing the Honeymooners, I had a big contract for that for two years. And after the first year, I said I didn't want to do it. And they didn't believe me. They thought I had a job somewhere else. And finally, they realized that I just didn't want to do it." When the network came back asking him to do another show, Gleason was in California making a picture. He said yes, but with one condition: "I said, 'All right.' I said, 'But I want a train that goes to Florida.' Because I had come down here and played golf and liked it and I figured might as well go to Florida and do the show. Play golf all the time and they went for it." They went for it. What followed was a rolling party across the country. Gleason describes what was on the train: "Everything. We had two Dixieland bands come from California and they would spell each other. I'd say to them, 'Take five miles,' and the parties went on 24 hours." Asked if there were girls on the train, he laughs: "Boy, there were girls. There certainly were. And they were very, very nice girls. Nothing on it happened. I know that sounds ridiculous, but it didn't. Might have been because the berths were too small, but regardless of that, nothing happened on that trip." Asked if there was a bar on the train, his answer is perfect: "A bar. The train was a bar. I guess that's a classic example of what clout is." Then he delivers the line that sums up the whole story: "'Send a train, please.' That's right. When you've got good ratings and you're one, two, or three in the ratings, there is nothing your little heart desires that they don't provide."

Ed O'Neill reveals Craig T. Nelson gambled and lost the biggest role in modern television history "They offered the part to Craig T. Nelson, not me. I read the script and thought, 'Oh no, I got to do this.' I called my manager and said, 'Mark, I think I have to do this.' And he said, 'Too late, it's out to Craig T. Nelson.' I said, 'Okay, well I'll watch it, it's going to be a good show.'" "A week later he called and said, 'They're back to you,' because Craig passed. Craig wanted some upfront money, like pay me for six and I'll do your one. He must have passed assuming they'd come back to him." "They said, 'They're back to you,' and I said, 'Make the deal.' He said, 'You're not the star.' I said, 'I know.' He said, 'They're not paying your quote.' I said, 'I don't care, it's a hit. We'll get even later and then we'll get ahead. And I was right."

Matthew McConaughey reveals the three words his dad said that changed his life “I said dad, I don't want to go to law school anymore. I want to go to film school and after about a 5 second pause, he goes, ‘Are you sure that's what you want to do?’ I reply yes sir” “Another long pause. Then I hear, ‘Well, don't halfass it’” “I remember just beaming, hopping up just like Yes! My dad not only said okay. The way he said don't halfass it, it was also, okay. Let's go big boy. Own that shit. Get some leverage. Get some horsepower behind where you're going. Go do it” “I remember to this day and I've learned this later I think from becoming a father, part of what I believe happened to him and why he said that to me that way on that call was the way that I asked him. I wasn't really asking. It was, ‘I don't want to go to law school, Dad. I want to go to film school.’ I didn't stutter. He heard his son saying this is what I want to do” “What I think happened to him in that moment is what I think any father, any parent loves. You raise your kids in a certain way and you give them a guideline, a ladder to climb and here's the guidelines and if you do it this way, you're most likely going to have some success in life and it'll work out for you and then when we do it that way, we can be proud parents” “But what do we really want to happen when our kids are out of the house and they're on their own? We kind of want them to call one day and go, ‘I'm breaking out. I'm going my own way.’ And as a parent, we go, as much as it may scare us, we're going, ‘Yes!’ I gave my kid the confidence and the courage and the foundation to say they're going to go their own way” “In a way, I think every parent honors and loves that moment. I heard my dad, when he didn't hear me stutter, when he heard me directly say what I said. I wasn't really asking him. Even though I was out of respect asking him, the way I said it, I wasn't asking him and I think he felt that” “Don't halfass it”

Jerry Seinfeld says the American Express Black Card only exists because a crew member asked if he had one “I was on the set, we’re shooting a commercial, and one of the guys on the crew slides up next to me and whispers, do you have the Black Card? I go, what’s that? He goes, there’s supposed to be a secret Black Card, and only the Sultan of Brunei and the president of American Express has it, and I thought maybe you had it too” “I go, no, I don’t have it. But I’m gonna get it. And the next morning I called the president of American Express, Harvey Golub at the time, and I said, what about the Black Card? He says, it’s just a rumor, it’s never existed. I go, let’s do it, let’s make the Black Card. He goes, let me look into it. And that’s how it happened” Interviewer: “Were you the first one?” “I had the first one, and I threw it out. I don’t know what happened to it. He gave it to me in this nice padded thing, and it was the first one, and I don’t have it anymore”

Giannis says he showed up EARLY to work out with Kobe, and the Black Mamba made him pay for it “Working out with Kobe, I showed up before him. I love that I did it, but it was a mistake” “Kobe came and said, ‘What are we gonna do?’ I said, ‘Whatever you tell me to do.’ He said, ‘Go right, make 25.’ I usually make four or five. I said, ‘Yeah… make 25.’ I made 25. ‘Okay, go left, 25.’ Then, ‘Go right, two dribbles’” “We worked out for two hours, intense, and I’m thinking, I shouldn’t have shot before this, I’m tired, I wanted to show him my best version” “But here’s what players won’t do today: they won’t be vulnerable. They won’t show weakness, or show appreciation to somebody better. If you always think you’re the best, you can never learn” “I had my notebook, I asked a lot of questions, he answered every single one, and never made me feel like we were running out of time. It was one of the best experience in my career”

Taylor Sheridan says quitting his acting role on Sons of Anarchy over a $5,000 per episode dispute led to a writing career behind Sicario, Yellowstone, Landman and more “Season two of Sons of Anarchy had ended. I'm an actor on this show making scale. And I literally would leave the set of that show and go to my other job because I didn't make enough on that show to pay my rent and live” “So after season two, I told them, I said, ‘Guys, I'm not coming back and doing this again for this price. I want what the other 14 people, not even asking for what Charlie gets or Katie or Ron Perlman. I just want what the other 11 guys are getting.’ And they couldn't do it” “The other guys were getting, it's a 13-episode show, they're getting $20,000 an episode before taxes, before agents, before everything. We're not talking about an exorbitant amount of money. They said, ‘We'll give you $15,000 and we'll guarantee you 10 episodes. That's all you're getting’” “I do the math on it, and I said, ‘That's not a raise. No.’ And my attorney responded to this business affairs guy. He said, ‘Look, I've got kids on fucking cooking shows on YouTube that make more than that.’ And he goes, ‘Well, then the guy should go get a cooking show on YouTube. We just don't have to pay him because there's 50 of that dude. I can recast that guy tomorrow’” “I realized my value is I'm imminently replaceable and that my business did not respect me. So I quit the show. Whether you want to call it pride or ego or integrity, but I just realized I've maxed out what I can do as an actor in this industry. And the people that have all the power are the people telling stories. So I'm going to tell my own stories. That's when I decided that I was going to write”

We’ve never had a conversation.’ I said, ‘Yes, I know.’ He asked, ‘What is it?’ I said, ‘You want to be the best player in the world—not once, not twice, but many, many times to come.’ I asked, ‘Am I wrong?’ He said, ‘No, you’re right.’ Then I asked him, ‘Will you be the best player in the world tomorrow?’ He said, ‘No, probably not.’ I said, ‘Next week?’ He said, ‘No.’ ‘Next month?’ ‘No.’ So I told him, ‘By the end of the season, we need to work on what will bring you closer to what you want to achieve. One of those aspects is understanding and being aware of the kind of player you are and the position you play. But more than anything, you need to understand how to utilize your strengths—and one of them is scoring goals.’ I asked, ‘How many goals did you score last season?’ He said, ‘23.’ I said, ‘Okay, but I assume you want to get better, don’t you?’ He said, ‘Yes.’ So I asked, ‘What’s your target for this season? Because if it’s the same, you’re not really improving.’ He thought about it and said, ‘30?’ I nodded. Then he asked, ‘What do you think?’ I said, ‘I think 40.’ He said, ‘Forty? That’s nearly double.’ Then I took him inside and showed him a video of United’s top strikers—Dwight Yorke, Andy Cole, Teddy Sheringham, Ole Gunnar Solskjær, and Ruud van Nistelrooy. It was a three-minute clip—goals after goals, bang, bang, bang. I asked, ‘What did you see?’ He said, ‘A lot of goals—beautiful goals.’ I said, ‘Yeah, but what do you really see?’ He said, ‘Goals.’ I said, ‘No, no, no. You’re going to watch it again and then tell me what you see.’ We watched it again, and I asked, ‘What do you see?’ He said, ‘I know what you mean—most goals are scored from inside the box, most are scored with one or two touches, and there’s a variety: tap-ins, shots, headers, and so on.’ I said, ‘Correct. These are exactly the three things you’re going to work on on the pitch.’”

Kevin Costner said he left Yellowstone over scheduling conflicts after staying for five seasons instead of the three he originally agreed to. Kevin Costner: I'm not in it. I was in it for five years. I guess I could be in it again if, um, if the planets wanted to line up, which means the storyline, the script. And then, I want to work more than once a year. Um, and to do that, the times have to be set aside for things. And when that couldn't happen, then that can't work for me anymore. Howard Stern: Well, that's a ballsy move. I mean, what a great show, what a great character you developed. Kevin Costner: That was great. Kevin Costner: Yeah, Cole is fabulous. And Kelly was great, and it was perfect. Look, I love this, I love the show. I went and sold it for them before it was a show. Taylor wrote a beautiful script. I went overseas, I stared at 300 people, and they go, "What is the show?" And I said, "I don't know. I think it could be good." "Are you going to be in it?" I said, "Uh..." I said, "I'll be in it for three years, but then I'm not sure." But I said this, "I think it's good."

ZELENSKYY ON HIS CONVERSATION WITH ABRAMOVICH: Ceasefire is the biggest compromise from our side to your side. ZELENSKYY: Abramovich, so he came to Kyiv,bI think that he said: "I have message direct to you, and I want to get message, and take message from you, and to give it to Putin." But he said that it has to be silently, without any kind of, public messages. I said, "Look, it's your choice. Okay, for us it doesn't matter, public or un-public." But it's always with Russians such way. If they say something has to be between us, it's mean that tomorrow not only we will know about it. But it's not a secret. He came, and he wanted to give me the message that they want to to understand what we are ready to do. I said: "The question is not about us. You are fighting against us on our territory." And I said to him about Donbas, it was the key message. And I said: "No, we will not leave, and we will not go out from our territory. No, we will not give you a victory such way. And you will not get it." And we spoke about any kind of compromises. I said that all the compromises after ceasefire. Ceasefire is the biggest compromise from our side to your side. JOURNALIST: So is he a go-between now? Between you and Vladimir Putin, he's going back and forth? ZELENSKYY: I don't know. When he got message from me, he said he will go directly to Putin. I said: "Okay, I'm ready to meet, not in Moscow, not in Belarus, and not in Minsk," and it's understandable why. I said, "You can choose any time from tomorrow. You can choose any day, any format. We can choose with President Trump. I'm sure that he will be ready to come, and we can do it with Europeans. I'm sure that everybody want to help, or we can choose the way bilateral, just bilateral meeting."

Gillian Anderson says she lied about her age to land The X-Files because she was too young for the role "I said I was 27, 'cause the character was 27" "To begin with, I thought there was no way in hell they were going to cast me anyway, because I had done nothing before" "And this was going to be a very big show, or they were hoping it was going to be a big show, and it was." "But putting the responsibility of a professional onto the shoulders of a 24-year-old with no experience, in my head, seemed just so outlandish that maybe they would do that for a 27-year-old with no experience." "I don't know. So I said I was 27, like the character, and I don't know if that contributed to doing the trick, but it didn't cross my mind that I shouldn't or wouldn't lie to them, because I wanted the job."

Trump: "I said Emmanuel, 'you're gonna have to lift your drug prices by double or triple.' 'No way, I will not do that, Donald, I would be out of business.' I said, 'No, you're GONNA DO IT!' And he said, 'No no.' I said, 'Here's the story, if you don't do it, I'm gonna put a 100% tariff on all the wine and champagne you sell into the US.' And you know what he said? 'I'll do it!'"

Arteta on Lewis-Skelly: “I've been tough on him. He had a spectacular season last year when he jumped into the first team. He had some difficult moments after that, but he stayed very humble, very focused, aligned when we wanted to do and I knew he was ready. “He's been showing in training every day the opportunities that he had to play, he's done it and today he really stepped up and I thought he had an incredible performance. Reporter: What was the sort of thinking behind that and why do you think it's taken this long to play him there? Arteta: “Because probably I don't have a clue. Maybe I should have done it earlier, I don't know. But I have to do things when I believe that the player is ready, the team is ready and the opponent is the right one to play with him in that position. “We've done it today, it's the first time, it was a big risk because I knew what was going to happen. If it works, it's great. would have lost the game, what would have happened, how do you play a kid at this age in this scenario in a position he hasn't played all season. I knew that but I had the feeling it was the right game for him.”

Gary Oldman's "EVERYONE!!" scream in Léon: The Professional is so iconic people yell it at him in the street. Turns out it started as a joke between him and Luc Besson. He explains: “What's strange is that it's become this sort of iconic line, and it was all done as a joke. And that was the thing, I played the scene…. And I had a relationship with Luc. Luc Besson was kind of mad in a way — I mean, we were shooting on film. He would say to me, "OK, do the scene again, but now do it as Robert De Niro." Or do it as... And he would shoot it for kicks, and his archive. So we had a fun kind of relationship… I said to Luke, "I just want to do one more, let me do one more." And I went to the sound guy and I said, "I'm going to be really loud, so be careful." And said “bring me everyone" — you know, EVERYONE like that. I just did it as a joke to make Luc laugh. I was a little shocked when I saw it in the film, yeah. It was just me fooling around — with intensity, with feeling — and yet it's become this line now.”

Charlie Sheen reveals Oliver Stone gave the Born on the Fourth of July role they had agreed on to Tom Cruise and confronted him drunk in a bar about it years later “The thing that was weird is he said, you know, I want you to do Born on the Fourth and we had meetings about it and we had a dinner with Ron Kovic, and then he just I stopped hearing from him.” “I love that Emilio thought I needed to be seated to get news he thought was going to make me faint. I mean, what are we doing here? It's a movie.” “It was also the betrayal factor of it, you know.” “I was like, Well, we didn't see you. How do you know how much passion I lost if we never talked about it again? He was like, Yeah, you know, my instincts told me.”
