On this day, 35 years ago, Massive Attack released "Unfinished Sympathy"

🤔 Fun fact: The band almost went bankrupt over this track. To get that epic string sound, they insisted on hiring a 40-piece orchestra at the legendary Abbey Road Studios. It cost them so much that they had to sell their own cars to cover the session, but the result was so flawless they nailed it in one single take because they couldn't afford a single extra minute of studio time. 🎻💰 Did you know? 🤯

Timeless. Hasn’t aged one bit. Masterpiece

35 years! In another 35 years, if I live, I'll be 98. Frightening how time passes.

1 of the top 25 songs of all time. Simply majestic.

An absolutely amazing .majestic and beautiful piece of music , top of the class . The video made in 1 take with 1 camera is simply a perfect match

About 10,000x better than the generic flimsy being released nowadays!

Oh my God, 35yrs ago, I’ve never felt so old!!

Take me back to the early 90’s, because it’s shit today.

Shame they turned out to be massive woke wankers.

@pbcarter7 Tune. A shame they turned into massive cunts though.

One of the greatest tunes ever released, timeless brilliance

I was early 20s. This song opened a whole new world of music. Amazing period. Timeless.

In my top three tunes of all time ✊🏻 a timeless masterpiece

I was 6 when this came out, but growing up in the 90s in the UK, this song and other now-classics were everywhere (especially funfairs and ice skating). Takes me back to warm summer evenings, safety, and the freedom of no obligations and pressures.

@bridvicious Timeless Classic and an equally iconic one-shot video 👌🏼

Timeless. Loved it back then and still do.

Absolute classic.

This was aired non-stop on MTV for a veeeeery long time. Incredible memories.

Cracker of a tune!

@TheRichLordLife My favourite song of all time. 👏🏻👏🏻

Beautiful. Massive Attack’s music has sure been speaking to me recently

Fantastic song and iconic video.

One of the best songs of all time for me

Did it like this song when it was released. Still don’t today. She can barely sing a note her.

I‘ m still exploding…

This was still is a great tune 🤩

@Frau_Rohr Who would have thought the 90’s would age so well.

@Frau_Rohr Clip plan séquence

"You're the book that I have opened, and now I've got to know much more" ❤️

Timeless Epic Song 🎶 If I had to choose only five songs to take to an island 🏝️, this is coming with me. Aswell as Pink Floyd, shine on you crazy diamond, Lynard Skynard, Free Bird, Prince Purple rain, and the Lord of the Rings Soundtrack ❤️ #LOTR #PinkFloyd #MassiveAttack
