This batter swung at a pitch and missed. The runner from first was stealing and the catcher makes a throw down to second. The catcher made contact with the batter who was still in the batter’s box after swinging and missing. The umpire called batter’s interference, sent the runner back to first and called the batter out. To me, that batter has to be able to finish his swing. He never stepped outside the box. I think it is the wrong call. What do you think? Batter’s interference or not?

Roberto Clemente at the age of 37 with a Massive Outfield Throw to Home Plate to prevent the runner from scoring during game 6 of the 1971 World Series It’s telling that with 2 outs, the runner on 1st, Mark Belanger doesn’t even think about scoring on a double to the right field corner. Belanger, who had good speed, was a smart enough base runner to just drop anchor at third base rather than challenge Clemente’s arm. Watching the throw, he obviously made the right decision.

This catcher is catching some heat, she claims the runners were aiming for her in hopes that she would drop the ball and mess up her play. So when a runner was coming home, she was caught elbowing a runner. People thought it could have been an accident, until it happened again. Even if it was true that they were targeting her, was her elbowing responses appropriate or was she doing dirty plays?
