One and done for this rookie teacher. He explains why…

As a ‘veteran’ teacher it hurts me to see this, because I bet he’s an amazing teacher. But I also COMPLETELY agree with everything he said. Education is circling the drain.

I’m a 26 yr teacher and I have personally witnessed changes in parenting and administrating, as well as the insidious creep of tech in the classroom and social media addiction. When I started, if I wrote a student up, I was included in the mtg and the outcome.

The entire system is becoming untenable.

One semester in and he sees the all the problems. It does not take a genius to see it. He is right about EVERY SINGLE DAMN THING!!! Bravo!

Exactly. Teaching becomes an uphill battle when students don't appreciate the value of education. It's not a flaw in teaching; it's a fundamental issue rooted in parenting.

It's damning. But I think the underlying system is to blame. We can pin it on reading and writing skills and discipline all day, but it's the system that we've created that allows those failures. Environment often dictates outcome.

If this doesn’t sum it all up, I don’t know what does! Stop blaming COVID and everything else! Blame crappy “leaders” both in schools and out. And that includes parents who are supposed to lead their kids to becoming good humans!

I taught for two years and what he is stating is pinpoint accurate!

Admins don't care to do anything because too many of them hate working with students and only want to move up to the downtown office for that 6 figure salary and no real responsibility

A couple of things at our school in ISS they don't get phones or devices...they sit there & do nothing. Also, 1 of the reasons our S's don't care is they know nothing will happen if they fail...@ least @ our middle school, they will go to 9th grade regardless.
