Hereโ€™s Riversโ€™ full confession from tonightโ€™s LUX TOUR Confessional with ROSALรA: โ€œWhen I was in high school, there was a boy I really liked. We talked, but we were โ€˜just friends,โ€™ and as time went by, we got to know each other more. He would ask me out, and it started becoming something more. Then, one day, he told me he liked me and felt the same way. I was so excited, so hopeful. His birthday was coming up, and there was going to be Pal Norte, a festival here. I spent months saving money to take him to the festival. I even did raffles and everything, because I was 13 or 14 years old. When his birthday finally came, I had prepared a surprise for him, organized everything, and planned a special moment. When I gave him the gift, he saw what it was and got kind of weird. Then he told me, โ€˜Oh, itโ€™s just that I have a family commitment,โ€™ or whatever. Something like that. But he had been saying for months that he wanted to go, so it didnโ€™t make any sense. I said, โ€˜Okay, fine, nothing happened.โ€™ Since I had the extra tickets, I told a friend, โ€˜This is your opportunity, come with me.โ€™ She was going to the festival too, so we went together. We were about to leave when, guess who I ran into at the festival? Him. With someone else, all cuddled up, and I think they were holding hands. And the worst part? Do you know who it was? A classmate. After that, I didnโ€™t want anything to do with โ€˜Natiโ€™ and I hated everyone for a long time. I spent several years not trusting anyone and not wanting to meet people in that way. But it was an experience, and eventually I realized it didnโ€™t have to be that way.โ€

Matthew McConaughey reveals the three words his dad said that changed his life โ€œI said dad, I don't want to go to law school anymore. I want to go to film school and after about a 5 second pause, he goes, โ€˜Are you sure that's what you want to do?โ€™ I reply yes sirโ€ โ€œAnother long pause. Then I hear, โ€˜Well, don't halfass itโ€™โ€ โ€œI remember just beaming, hopping up just like Yes! My dad not only said okay. The way he said don't halfass it, it was also, okay. Let's go big boy. Own that shit. Get some leverage. Get some horsepower behind where you're going. Go do itโ€ โ€œI remember to this day and I've learned this later I think from becoming a father, part of what I believe happened to him and why he said that to me that way on that call was the way that I asked him. I wasn't really asking. It was, โ€˜I don't want to go to law school, Dad. I want to go to film school.โ€™ I didn't stutter. He heard his son saying this is what I want to doโ€ โ€œWhat I think happened to him in that moment is what I think any father, any parent loves. You raise your kids in a certain way and you give them a guideline, a ladder to climb and here's the guidelines and if you do it this way, you're most likely going to have some success in life and it'll work out for you and then when we do it that way, we can be proud parentsโ€ โ€œBut what do we really want to happen when our kids are out of the house and they're on their own? We kind of want them to call one day and go, โ€˜I'm breaking out. I'm going my own way.โ€™ And as a parent, we go, as much as it may scare us, we're going, โ€˜Yes!โ€™ I gave my kid the confidence and the courage and the foundation to say they're going to go their own wayโ€ โ€œIn a way, I think every parent honors and loves that moment. I heard my dad, when he didn't hear me stutter, when he heard me directly say what I said. I wasn't really asking him. Even though I was out of respect asking him, the way I said it, I wasn't asking him and I think he felt thatโ€ โ€œDon't halfass itโ€

Tales of Wudan - The Mysterious Old Man In the year 644, as a young student of the Wudan style, it was my job to sweep the training area each morning. โ€ I started this job at 3:45am - and, with vigor, would finish with a few minutes to spare before the 6am training. โ€ There was an old man with no hands and no feet - the only man, to whom Master Po would bow - who would sit atop a tree trunk and watch me complete this task. โ€ Every morning, he appeared and watched in admiration. It was a full 219 years, before I mustered the courage to speak with him. โ€œWhy do you watch me sweep?โ€ I asked, puzzled. โ€ โ€œAh, young Cobra, what better unison of the hands and the feet than sweeping a floor? If you were in my position, you would savour the task!โ€ he replied. โ€ I looked at the stumps where his hands and feet once were, then looked up at him. He knew what I wanted to ask... But I was afraid to appear disrespectful. โ€ Truly, it was none of my business. Curiosity got the better of me. โ€œWhat happened to you?โ€ I said, looking towards the ground. โ€ I was sure he was contemplating reprimanding me. I was pleased, when he began to speak. โ€ โ€œWudan was not always such a peaceful place,โ€ he began. โ€œWarring tribes fought for this mountains power and strange creatures lurked in every corner. Before myself and a few brave others, including Master Po, banished them from the mountain.โ€ โ€ I placed my broom on the floor, sat down and continued to listen. โ€ โ€œWhile fighting bandits near the Yushu river, a water snake grabbed my right foot and began to pull me under. Fearing for my life, and unable to see the snake through the bloodied water, I removed my right foot with one slice of my sword. The only alternative was to drown.โ€ โ€ Still looking down, I raised my eyes to take a glimpse at his right stump. โ€œWhat about your left foot?โ€ I asked. โ€ He placed his right leg under his robe and exposed his left before continuing his story. โ€ โ€œThe next day, I was limping and slowing the group down. I asked to be left to die, but Po demanded that I fight. Soon, a daughter of a previously slain bandit had spotted us and fired an arrow from a ridge which landed squarely in my left foot. Fearing gangrene, I removed my left foot with one slice of my sword.โ€ โ€ โ€œWhat happened to your hands?โ€ I asked quickly. โ€ โ€œMy left hand was snared by a Golden Dragon in that now empty cave you children enjoy, to avoid being pulled into darkness and killed. I removed my left hand with one slice of my sword...โ€ โ€ He paused. โ€œMy right hand was caught in a bear trap the same afternoon, fearing death, I removed it with my teeth.โ€ โ€ I looked at his right hands stump. It was ragged. Not a clean cut like the others. It still looked painful. He looked relieved when the story was over, it pained him to relive the events. โ€ He took a sigh of relief and moved his gaze from me back over to the floor I was sweeping. I however was confused. โ€ โ€œHow did you find the strength, to remove limb after limb in such gruesome fashion? I donโ€™t think I could do that.โ€ โ€ He smiled. โ€œWell then you would be dead. And you would never tell your story to anybody, would you? I didnโ€™t find the strength to die.โ€ โ€ I bowed and returned to sweeping. The conversation made me minutes late for training. Master Po beat me severely. โ€ The next morning when I rose to sweep, the man was not there. I never saw him again. โ€ Such is the way of Wudan.

An Azov fighter was left alone at his position and single-handedly fought off a Russian attack. Video transcription: โ€œI started firing back and realized that I was the only one firing from the position. But then, after I had gone through all the positions, I realized that I couldnโ€™t do it alone. So I picked three firing positions in the trench where I could operate and placed rifles at each of them. I would simply run in with loaded magazines, insert one, fire through two or three magazines, and then change positions. I switched from single shots to bursts and started firing burst after burst, magazine after magazine. The mortars were firing, the AGS was firing, and a tank rolled out on the right. Anyway, I could hear the MLRS launching. I thought, well, they must be hitting somewhere in the rear, probably the evacuation groups. Then the first Grad rocket exploded about 60 meters from the position I was in at the time. And I realized that the Grads would start landing closer and closer. I just dropped down in the trench and curled up, and the next one exploded somewhere about five meters away. That feelingโ€ฆ it felt like all the air had been sucked out of my lungs. Phew! It was quite a crazy situation back then. I remember somethingโ€ฆ well, thereโ€™s nothing to tell the kids.โ€ The fighter was buried under earth from the explosion, but fortunately help arrived and dug him out โ€” which is what we see at the beginning of the video.

The Game opens up about surviving getting sh0t five times and spending nearly a month in a coma. He says he was robbed at the dope house at midnight after all the sales had stopped while he was playing Madden. He heard a knock on the door, he opened it to a scrawny kid, two more dudes came behind him and he was fighting for his life. He was sh0t in the chest, stomach, leg, and arm before crawling to the bathroom to call 911. He adds that after he woke up, he had to learn how to walk again and had a realization hit to go to church and change his life. โ€œI was playing madden late night and we had rules in the dope house that after midnight all sales cease. I heard a knock on the door i looked at the time it was like 12:30. Nobody else was in the dope spot but me, when thereโ€™s alot of guys in the dope house every knock on the door is the other person turn, till it gets back to you, that how everybody makes even money. I was like whatโ€™s one more knock on the door , i looked through the peep hole it was this scrawny little kid that always come, soon as i opened the the door for him to more dudes came behind him and then i was in the fight for my life. It felt like it happened in 20 seconds, i ran immediately to the table to get my g-n, he got to it before me, so we ended up rolling on the ground for what felt like a lifetime. His homie couldnโ€™t sh00t me because we were rolling. So he just fired it, it went through my chest, my stomach, through my leg, and arm. I thought my life was over. I crawled down the hallway to the bathroom, i lifted myself up by my elbows, i pulled my tank top and bl00d splattered. I call 911 myself. Next thing i woke up my aunt was like youโ€™ve been here for a minute. I went to my grandmaโ€™s house, i had to learn how to walk again, i said soon as i get out this bed im going to church, change my lifeโ€

Russell Crowe says one trip to Reno made him realize he could become addicted to gambling โ€œI went to Reno, Nevada. I had X amount of money. I was doing well in my career, but I didn't have a lot of cash. I had a couple hundred dollars in my pocket, that's all. I went and had a beer and started playing blackjack on a $5 tableโ€ โ€œI'm playing and I did pretty well. I amassed a few hundred dollars, feeling very cocky and confident about myself. And I probably had one beer too many. I went for a walk down the street, saw a roulette table, and thought, that'll be me. Everything I won, I lostโ€ โ€œBy the time I got my shit back together, I had $25 in my pocket. I'm in Reno. I've got a quarter tank of gas, I gotta get back to L.A., and I don't have a credit card. So I go back to the same $5 blackjack table. When I got to $190, which I knew was gonna be enough to get me back with petrol and food, I stoppedโ€ โ€œI got out into the car park of this hotel, itโ€™s 11 or midnight, and I just started vibrating. My whole body was shaking like I was having some kind of fit. I got back to the hotel room and called my mom collect in New Zealand. I said, โ€˜I just did this. I went through this.โ€™ She said, โ€˜There's something I've never told you. Your great-grandfather was a professional gambler. At one point in time, he gambled his house away. He had to go wake up his daughters and wife and tell them this is where they no longer live.โ€ โ€œThat one act kept that family, in relative terms, poor for another two generations. That one impulsive act, to gamble his house. I know it's in me, so I don't go anywhere near itโ€
