Rubber-stamping it now would be costly—for both nature & for county finances.

Independent councillor John Edwards is being punished for telling the truth about the scale and impact of the Afghan resettlement scheme. John Edwards raised concerns about Afghan migrants being housed in a local four-star hotel, with onsite healthcare, wraparound support, and assistance moving into the private rental market — including deposits being paid for them. None of this was secret. It was all in the public domain. But the council didn’t like John asking questions. 🚨 Do you expect your councillor to actually live in the area they represent? Because in Tower Hamlets Council, we have councillors living around 5,000 miles away. Actively campaigning to be MPs, not for Tower Hamlets, not even for the UK, but for Bangladesh. And yes, they’re still being paid their £20,000 councillor salary while doing it. That’s the equivalent of a very comfortable six-figure income in Bangladesh, paid for by local taxpayers here. It gets worse. The councillor in question is meant to be responsible for scrutiny. Well she isn’t scrutinising much from Bangladesh is she?! And then people act surprised when this council is drowning in scandal: ❌ Finances don’t add up ❌ Contracts that don’t exist ❌ Procurement rules being bypassed These people genuinely do not care about local residents. I don’t particularly like politics. I don’t really like politicians. And I don’t particularly like political parties… …But I’m coming to the conclusion that if I don’t fix this, no one will.

Vandalizing Flock cameras with a crowbar might make for a viral video, but it’s a really bad solution. Not only will you face consequences, but it'll make the case for constant surveillance even stronger. And the city will just spend more of your tax dollars to bolt another camera right back onto the same pole. If we want to stop the growing surveillance state, we have to tear down the POLICY. Here's what will actually make a difference: Pass strong local laws: Go to your city council and county commission meetings. Demand clear, enforceable local ordinances that either ban government-connected plate readers entirely or strictly cap data retention to a few days. Demand accountability: Ask your sheriff and local leaders point-blank: Who has access to this data? How long is it stored? Are federal agencies running unchecked queries on local citizens? Enforce the Fourth Amendment: It requires a warrant with a name on it. There’s no name on a Flock camera. It’s a digital panopticon tracking innocent people on their way to work, church, or the doctor. Politicians and vendors come and go, but the law is the only thing that survives. Stop taking up crowbars to poles and start taking action at your city hall before these cameras become permanent infrastructure.

THEY CUT HIM LOOSE! Friday afternoon, I thought the King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office would formally charge 47 year old Jeffery McMillan with felony harassment after he charged at me with a baseball bat and threatened to kill me in downtown #Seattle. But to my shock, the judge let him go. This maniac is back on the streets because of a technicality! Prosecutors say in order to hold someone, they have to make a charging decision within 72 hours of the arrest. But investigators did not get them all the evidence needed to do that. Apparently, it's still in the works. So they had to cut him loose! Insane. I'm not blaming SPD, but it appears the lack of staff contributed to this situation. Still waiting for an official explanation from Seattle Police Department. BTW this has happened several times before in other cases. Mayor Katie B. Today Conservatives launch a new plan for young people: 1. Cut the number of places on poor value uni courses. 2. Use the savings from this to free graduates from the interest rate treadmill & deliver 100 000 more apprenticeships a year. 3. Let people keep the first £5k of tax they'd have paid on starting work. (We’d also cut stamp duty to help people get on the housing ladder.) It’s not wrong in principle to be asked to pay for some of your higher education rather than get those who didn't go to uni to pay through tax. But the current system is not working in the interests of students, taxpayers or the wider economy. Students have crushing debt that can be esp hard to clear for middle earners; the taxpayer will end up footing the bill for loans that can’t be paid; and the wider economy is not getting the skill mix it needs or a new generation of workers able to make the aspirational choices they want because they are so financially constrained. Developers call it "Southside" and promise jobs and wind powered operations, but this proposal risks turning one of Scotland’s most stunning landscapes into a concrete eyesore. Campaigners from Save the Lammermuirs Stop the Data Centre are right to call it what it is a monster. At 24 metres high, these massive buildings would drain electricity, dominate the views, and fundamentally change the character of this peaceful rural area. Data centres typically create hundreds of temporary construction jobs, but only a small number of permanent operational jobs once built (often just 25 to 100 staff for maintenance and security). The developers’ claim of ~145 permanent local jobs is still very low for a £2 billion project that would industrialise a large rural site. Reports from the US highlight further serious concerns constant noise pollution from fans and generators disrupts sleep, causes stress, anxiety, headaches, and other health issues for nearby residents. The Biggest Mistake of College Pitchers The biggest mistake I see is guys doing random stuff and putting in the work, thinking that’s enough. They’ll say, yeah man, I’m putting in the work, I lift five times a week, I throw five times a week, I do mobility every day. Then I ask them, what’s the goal in the weight room? They say, just lift heavy. I ask, what’s the goal with your throwing program? What’s going on with your mechanics? What are you attacking? They’ll say they kind of just long toss every day and that’s it. So do you really feel like that’s the most efficient path to get where you want to go? If there’s no intention behind what you’re doing, then you’re just doing something to do something. This is most common with college guys in programs where the lifting plan isn’t great and the coaches don’t really help them. They get stronger, but they never throw harder. It’s because they’re not working on what they actually need to work on. If you’re already super strong in college, then let’s focus on force production, power, and your mechanics.
