Can a medieval town replace fossil heating with clean energy? Yes it can! Here's an inspiring example from a place close to home for me - I grew up just a few miles from the German town of Lemgo founded in 1190. Many of Lemgo's buildings are very old and listed. The city is using district heating in combination with advanced heat pump technology, extracting heat from its wastewater treatment plant and the nearby River Bega. Lemgo has also installed solar thermal systems and aims to generate over 55% of its district heating from renewable sources by 2028. Investments in large-scale heat storage are also underway to further support the transition.

In total, damage has been reported at five locations across the city. "In one of Dnipro’s districts, there is currently no heating. Energy workers, heating specialists, and municipal services are working to restore heating as quickly as possible in the buildings that remain without it. This affects around 8,600 customers," officials reported. In Kyiv, more than 1,100 homes remain without heating across two districts. Last night, Russian strikes damaged a facility that provides heat to these homes, the mayor said. 📹: WeUkraine

Why is half of the ship black and half of it is silver colored? that's because the bottom as seen from orbital entry is, has a heat shield on it. So the black there is the heat shield and then the core structure of the rocket is a special alloy of stainless steel and that's where you see the sort of shiny silver parts are stainless steel. The reason for steel over aluminum is that the heat of atmospheric entry and the heat of the rocket engines is enough to easily melt aluminum but steel is much more resilient against both a sand heating, but especially the re entry heating. And you don't have to paint it, which is actually very difficult at to paint a large object that is going through cry genetic cycles and have the paint stay on. It's quite challenging
