The only problem I have with Rowan Atkinson as a stand-up comedian is that he’s never done enough of it. And maybe that’s a good thing? After all, one of the reasons Fawlty Towers is so admired (apart from it being incredibly funny) is that they quit while they were ahead. With Rowan, stand-up has always been an occasional thing and he was at his most active in the early to mid 1980’s. When it happened though, you knew it was going to be good. This routine was actually recorded in 1992 and the entire show was written by Rowan and Richard Curtis. The whole thing’s on YouTube. Just search Rowan Atkinson Live, 1992.
