The only problem I have with Rowan Atkinson as a stand-up comedian is that he’s never done enough of it. And maybe that’s a good thing? After all, one of the reasons Fawlty Towers is so admired (apart from it being incredibly funny) is that they quit while they were ahead. With Rowan, stand-up has always been an occasional thing and he was at his most active in the early to mid 1980’s. When it happened though, you knew it was going to be good. This routine was actually recorded in 1992 and the entire show was written by Rowan and Richard Curtis. The whole thing’s on YouTube. Just search Rowan Atkinson Live, 1992. Happy Friday, fellow sinners!

Watching Tim Key slowly realize the story has completely turned against him is painfully funny. 😭 Who else The timing is what makes this work. One detail leads to another, everyone on the couch joins in, and Tim Key has no way of escaping where the conversation ends up. The moment Judi Dench admits she sat in the Queen's throne, Ian McKellen's reaction says everything. I love how the story gets funnier because nobody tries to make it dramatic. well, the /𝚛𝚎𝚖𝚘𝚝𝚒𝚘𝚗 skill is indeed as amazing as everyone has said. did this with a bit of prompting in claude. then used suno to generate an audio track. still noodling around to get this just right, but unreal how easy it is.
