But they are saddled with ‘empire’ they don’t want. And so they can’t believe the media or the government because this is the world power center. It is why every jackass abroad thinks it’s ok to comment on domestic American politics - because he kind of has to - because it will impact him as well. Americans are ‘conspiratorial’ because there really are forces beyond their control at the ballot box. Americans are people who vote knowing each time they can’t really get what they want - because their vote matters much less than world politics at which America is still the center.
