This video has been making the rounds, but we have a perspective with which all Chicago should be aware. Last week, Mayor Brandon Johnson was praising the work of Community Violence Interrupters (CVIs). While venerating CVIs, the mayor said CVIs "put their lives on the line." Johnson is lying through his teeth, and this video perfectly captures exactly what violence interrupters do. In Austin, CPD arrested a man with a gun, which had an extended mag. Extended mags are illegal. The video captures two men, both of whom are wearing colored (green and yellow) vests. Both men are "violence interrupters." This video shows one CVI in the green vest confronting CPD as they arrest a gun offender. The CVI is defending the criminal and arguing with CPD as they carry out their duties. This is typical behavior from CVIs. Though CVIs are supposed to assist police, CVIs routinely harass and obstruct Police as they attempt to remove criminal offenders from the streets. CVIs are also known to tip off gang members and criminals sought by CPD. Worse, CVIs are paid through tens of millions in grant money (tax dollars) to obstruct CPD. CVIs do nothing to improve conditions on the streets. On the contrary, CVIs work to protect criminal offenders who are spreading mayhem in Chicago neighborhoods. Violence prevention programs are a scam, and our tax dollars are paying them to obstruct CPD.

At a town hall hosted by WGN, a community violence interrupter (CVI) just so happened to make it into the audience to ask the mayor about funding for CVI programs. Johnson then went on the offer fulsome praise for violence interrupters. Violence interrupters and peacekeepers are worthless, and most are "justice-impacted individuals" who are paid tax dollars only to return to the streets where they resume gang activity, sling dope, sell guns, or exact revenge on rivals. Johnson, however, is gullible enough to believe in CVIs.

Listen to Mayor Brandon Johnson's answer to Kristen Welker's question on affordability in Chicago. Mind you, Johnson became mayor in May 2023, some 20 months — nearly two years — before Trump returned to the White House. When told prices have risen in Chicago 7 percent since Johnson became mayor, the mayor froze momentarily and immediately shifted to blame Trump's tariffs. A world-class pivot, Johnson then rambled on for another minute and a half about his throwing money at CPS schools, support for childcare workers, summer jobs programs, affordable housing, mentioned something about fresh water, a diverse economy...............whatever stuck to the wall. Even Welker was bored with his non-answer. The mayor of Chicago is a gargantuan moron.

Chicago Mayor Johnson refused to answer my questions yesterday about waste, fraud, and abuse tied to his lavish Rome trip with an eight-person entourage — plus his personal police security. Instead of answers, I got ducking, dodging, staff interruptions, and the usual attempt to shut me down. So today, I gave him another chance. Johnson said the purpose of the trip was to deliver the Pope a Cubs hat. I told him Chicago taxpayers could save a lot of dough if he just mailed the cap. Then came the real question: who’s picking up the tab? Johnson says no taxpayer money is being used. But World Business Chicago is funding the trip — and World Business Chicago is funded by the City of Chicago. Johnson is also the chair. Then I asked if anybody doing business with City Hall is going with him to Rome. His answer? He said he didn’t have the guest list. C’mon. Does that sound straight to you? Mayor Brandon Johnson was asked to his face about the teen mob takeovers in Chicago and when his administration will finally shift from “asking to compelling the participating youth and their adults to be accountable for those disturbances of the peace.” BRUTAL! This was asked in the context of Johnson’s horribly failed “defunded policing policy.” Johnson responded by basically saying he’s not going to do anything. He said, “I am calling on all parents, community leaders, business leaders to stand together to make sure that we are creating opportunities for young people and that if they step up outside the bounds of our expectations, that we hold them accountable.” In other words, he has no plan. He’s hoping the people of Chicago will just figure it out. What he should do is impose stricter curfews, increase police presence, and raise legal penalties for breaking curfew. But Johnson would rather appear woke than achieve results. That’s why these teen mob takeovers in Chicago continue. Great question and framing by the reporter. He deserves a raise. Mayor Johnson took a more theological approach, saying jailing criminals is “racist, unholy and doesn’t lower violent crime rates.” That was on August 25, a week before all the mayhem in Chicago. We’re now halfway through September, and Mayor Johnson continues to object to putting criminals in prison… In Washington, DC, President Trump’s push to stop crime has, in fact, reduced crime. A barefaced lie, crime dropped in Little Village when ICE was present because gang activity evaporated over gang members' fear of arrest and deportation. Johnson then claimed his revamping of CPD's Detective Bureau led to a "71 percent clearance rate" for homicides. A falsehood, the clearance rate has only risen because homicides have dropped and some cases are simply closed without an arrest. Johnson then claimed his policies — chiefly affordable housing — led to a 30 percent drop in homicides and said Chicago "doubled the national average" for reductions in crime. A flat-out lie, crime only dropped after Eileen O'Neill Burke took over as CCSA and reversed Kim Foxx's policies. In one of his more amusing comments, Johnson said if Trump was committed to addressing crime, he would ensure "ATF and local law enforcement can work together." Odd how Johnson demands cooperation with federal agencies on gun crime but refuses to cooperate with immigration officials to remove even illegals with criminal histories.
