Thanks Major Gen Sanjay Sharma, Head of the Medical Wing, for organising this camp for the benefit of the local population. Special thanks to Brig Mishra and the Ophthalmology team from R&R Hospital Delhi for transporting and setting up advanced medical equipment including the rare 3D microscope for precision eye surgery at the Udhampur Mega Cataract Camp. Beneficiaries from far-flung and peripheral areas expressed deep appreciation for the state of the art healthcare services provided at the camp, free of cost. The maiden Joint Services Multi-Speciality Camp, being conducted at the Union Territory of Lakshadweep from 12-17 January 2026 was formally inaugurated by Adm Dinesh K Tripathi, #CNS, at Kavaratti, on 13 Jan 26. The camp covering five islands - #Amini, #Androth, #Agatti, #Kavaratti, and #Minicoy - will provide comprehensive medical care to the residents. Over 15 static and mobile medical teams will complement the existing health services on L&M Islands by augmenting the medical equipment, stores, and medicines, and enabling on-site access to specialist and super-specialist care from across the country. A dedicated ophthalmology team has also been deployed at Kavaratti to undertake cataract surgeries for eligible patients. Reflecting the spirit of flagship national initiatives such as Ayushman Bharat - Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY), the camp integrates and provides curative care with preventive and promotive health services to those residing in the most remote regions of the country. Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh in his video message reaffirmed the Government of India’s commitment to bringing quality healthcare closer to citizens in remote areas, in furtherance of the vision of ‘Swasth Bharat’, and expressed confidence that the camp by bringing together a comprehensive medical setup on a single platform would contribute to long-term health benefits for the island community. Speaking on the occasion #CNS highlighted the three unique features of this camp, Synergy - with professionals from all three Services and local administration; Scope - a vast range of medical specialists and Scale - the number of medical professionals and support personnel deployed for this camp. #CNS emphasised that such joint initiatives strengthen inter-service synergy and civil-military cooperation, while contributing meaningfully to the welfare of citizens. #CNS also met with patients including over 40 beneficiaries of the cataract surgeries undertaken in the last two days. As part of its 93rd Anniversary celebrations, the Indian Air Force captivated Guwahati with a spectacular flying display over the majestic Brahmaputra at Lachit Ghat. Hon’ble Governor of Assam, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Assam, and the Chief of the Air Staff graced the occasion as Chief Guests. The event was also witnessed by 48 Foreign Service Attachés and distinguished dignitaries. The celebration began with a stirring performance by the IAF Band, setting the tone for an unforgettable afternoon of precision and pride. In keeping with the theme “Infallible, Impervious & Precise”, the skies came alive with a thrilling array of aircraft — Su-30, Rafale, Tejas, Mirage, MiG-29, Jaguar, Hawk, Apache, Mi-17, C-295, C-130, C-17, IL-78, AN-32, AEW&C and Dornier, along with the vintage Harvard aircraft. Says Peace & Normalcy restored in Ladakh with people’s cooperation Says restrictions to be lifted in a Phased Manner. Directs UT Admin to provide Humanitarian & Financial Assistance to affected persons. Appeals to citizens not to heed rumours. Leh, October 1: The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Shri Kavinder Gupta, today chaired a high-level review meeting to take stock of the prevailing law and order situation in the Union Territory. The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Dr. Pawan Kotwal, Director General of Police Dr. S.D. Singh Jamwal, DIG Srinagar South Shri P.K. Singh, Deputy Commissioner Leh, Senior Superintendent of Police Leh, Shri Sanjay Kumar, CO 79, Shri Rajat Jain, CO 25, and other senior officials. The officials briefed the Lt Governor on the latest security scenario and the measures undertaken to maintain peace and stability in the region. The Hon’ble Lt Governor lauded the relentless efforts of security forces and the civil administration in restoring normalcy over the past week under challenging circumstances. He also expressed appreciation for the patience and cooperation shown by the people of Ladakh. Reviewing the welfare measures, Shri Kavinder Gupta enquired about the condition of the remaining injured undergoing treatment at the government hospital. He directed the administration and hospital authorities to ensure the best possible medical care. He further directed the Deputy Commissioner that, in cases where advanced medical treatment is required outside the UT, the administration must provide all possible humanitarian aid and financial support so that no individual faces hardship or feels neglected. Appealing to the citizens, the Hon’ble Lt Governor urged people not to pay heed to rumors or misinformation and assured them that peace and harmony will be safeguarded at all costs. He emphasized that the administration, along with security forces, is fully committed to maintaining peace, law, and order across the Union Territory. The Hon’ble Lt Governor further assured that very soon all restrictions imposed as precautionary measures will be lifted in a phased manner once the situation fully stabilizes. “Peace and development are the top priorities of the administration. Together, with the cooperation of the people, Ladakh will continue on the path of progress,” he added.
