He’s talking out of his ass. He really doesn’t know. One of the big challenges is doing self driving without using tons of compute so that it can fit into the car’s energy budget.

This was the original reason why Elon and Sam split on OpenAI. Elon wanted OpenAI to focus on embodied AI (robotics, self driving), while Sam wanted to work on LLMs, which eventually became ChatGPT. The irony is that both were correct, both were/are important. But at the time, they were separate research paths.
