@OpenAI @e2b auto-pause + fork is the important part. the durable primitive isn't a long-running machine. it's replayable task state that can hydrate into a clean machine, branch, and resume.

@OpenAI @e2b The isolated filesystem plus preinstalled tools is the part that matters most in practice. Most of my agent failures used to come from environment drift, not the model. Good to see that getting solved at the infra layer instead of every project rebuilding it.

@OpenAI @e2b Auto-pause between turns is the product, not a missing automation. A hosted harness that keeps going with no human gate is just a runaway script with better branding. Forks only help if the failed branch can’t write back by default.

@OpenAI @e2b The fork is the part I'd like to see explored more. A side-by-side view of what each attempt changed would make "try another approach" much easier to judge than scrolling two chat histories.

Just implemented Code Sandbox for TypingMind 🥳 I was looking at various options for sandbox and code execution, but for now the most obvious choice is to use the built-in sandbox provided by all popular providers: OpenAI/Gemini/Claude. It can create files but not yet able to accept file input, except for OpenAI's API, which gives your 20 minutes of "persistent container" which persist the files and the execution session. I'll look into implement 3rd party provided sandboxes like Vercel sandbox or E2B soon!

Introducing Octopus OS, a reinvented agent harness. Agents can edit their own harness in the middle of a task, on their own. Unlike Harness² and similar projects, self-improvement isn’t a separate stage bolted onto the agent. The whole architecture is just the environment they work in. Over 8 months, chasing self-improvement that feels truly native, I dropped the usual agent loop entirely and designed a new architecture that works a lot like a real operating system, with a 45k-line Rust kernel holding it all together. The system state lives in JSON files: goals act as real environments where agents work, along with inputs, outputs, and custom triggers they respond to. Agents can edit all of it while they work inside. It was also built as a product from day one, not a research demo. The full desktop app took 3 months, built on top of the Codex source. The client already works, and you can use it today like any other agent, Codex included. And it’s open source.
