I met the guy behind Paperclip. he won't show his face, but he just built one of the FASTEST growing open-source projects in AI. how to use Paperclip to hire AI agents to ACTUALLY run a startup with 0 employees: 1. with paperclip, you hire a team of AI agents like CEO, engineer, QA, video editor, content strategist and manage them from one dashboard. it works with Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, or any model on OpenRouter. you're not locked into one provider. 2. your AI agents wake up capable but with zero memory. they don't know who they are, where they are, or what they're supposed to be doing. kinda like that movie memento from back in the day you need to leave them Polaroids like heartbeat checklists, persona prompts, written context. that's how you keep them on track. 3. when an agent makes a mistake, you don't rewrite everything. you add one rule to their persona prompt. "always define a success condition for every task." "always pass work to QA before closing." you're training them like you'd train a junior hire. one correction at a time. 4. skills extend what your agents can do. want a video editor who can produce animated content? install the Remotion skill. want security reviews? there's a skill for that. 5. the biggest lever for quality is encoding your own taste. AI can do everything except know your values. design sensibility, brand voice, success criteria but you have to write it down. 6. don't one-shot your startup. agentic design patterns matter. the simplest one: after the engineer builds something, QA reviews it. structure prevents compounding errors. one-shotting an entire app is fun for 30 minutes, then it falls apart. 7. Culture is genetic because behavior is genetic. This beaver never saw a dam in its life. No beavers or anything else ever taught it to build a dam. It wants to build a dam because it is a beaver. Many beavers together build a big dam. That is beaver culture. Humans are not different. Nothing is different. This is what life is. This is how life works. Your body is your mind. A caterpillar wants to build a chrysalis. A bee wants to build a hive. A lion wants to build a pride. You are not special. You are not above your nature. you are INSIDE of it. The thoughts that we think are genetic thoughts. The crimes we commit are genetic crimes. The art we create is genetic art. Just like this beaver, you can give the animal different sticks and it will build a different dam, but it will always build a dam. And you can give humans different "education," but the human will always use it to do what its genes tell it to do. This is the first big answer that you need. This is the biggest piece of the puzzle. This is how to understand people 90% of the way. You just... notice what they do, and get out of the way, and watch them do it. And if they need sticks, you give them sticks. And if you don't like what they do, you have to get away from them. You cannot train dam-building into them or out of them any more than you can with a beaver. A beaver wants to build a dam because it is a beaver. Whatever you see people build, that's what they wanted to build from the sticks they got in the river they were in. Stop pretending you can change it.

An entire empire was overthrown over a two percent tax on a breakfast beverage. Look at what you tolerate now. You are taxed when you earn it. Taxed when you spend it. Taxed when you save it. Taxed when you invest it. And when you die, they tax whatever is left. That is not a system. That is a harvest. You commute in a car you paid sales tax to buy. You drive it on roads you were already taxed to build. You fill it with gas taxed by the gallon. When you sell that car, the next buyer pays sales tax on it again. The same car. Taxed every time it changes hands. You arrive at a job where your salary is cut before it ever touches your hands. If you work for yourself, you pay both sides. Two people on paper. Neither one keeps what they earned. Then you go home. Every bill you open has a government standing behind it with its hand out. You buy a house with money they already took their share of. Then they charge you property tax on it every year for the rest of your life. You want to renovate your own kitchen. You need a permit. You want to build a deck on your own land. You need a permit. You pay for the property. Then you pay for permission to use it. Stop paying property tax and they seize your home. Not because you missed a mortgage payment. Because you missed a payment to the government for the privilege of keeping what is already yours. You do not own your home. You rent it from the state. If you leave something behind for your children, they are taxed on what you were already taxed to earn. The same wealth. Taxed at every stage of your life. Then taxed one final time because you had the audacity to die. They found a way to monetize your absence. We are told this is the price of civilization. It is not. It is architecture. The most effective prison ever built is the one where the inmates believe they are free. They did not take your freedom. They priced you out of it. If you kept the full value of your labor, you would be free within years. Not decades. Years. The system cannot allow that. A machine built on consumption needs a consumer that never stops. You did not sign a social contract. You were assigned one. Now pay attention. They spent decades perfecting the extraction of your productivity. Now they are building the technology to replace you. AI is not coming for your job because corporations are greedy. It is coming because a system that already takes half your output just realized it can take all of it. Without needing you in the equation. You were never the point of this arrangement. You were the input. And the moment they engineer a cheaper one, you become a rounding error on a quarterly earnings call. They did not build AI to free you. They built it to finish what the tax code started. It was never about the tea. It was about the precedent. Today we hand over half our waking lives and thank them for the potholes. You do not live in a free economy. You live in a subscription you never signed up for. And the penalty for canceling is everything you have.

A new way of working. And a scary one at that. Memory Store is one of a group of new kinds of AI-first companies that can turn you into a Fast Company. I’m using several of them on my desktop and they are a dramatically new way to work. It builds a memory for: 1. Your AI agents. 2. Any employee using it. 3. The company itself. I sit down with founder Diwank Singh Tomer, Diwank Singh Tomer, who both freaks me out as well as shows how AI can radically help workers as well as managers. First, why does it freak me out? Well, his AI watches nearly everything a worker does and keeps a “memory” of it. It watches your email. Your calendar. Your Slack. And a whole lot of other things. This can really freak out workers if “forced” on them. And leads to a whole new set of security issues companies need to consider before adopting these things. Such data about a company could give a competitor a HUGE advantage, if leaked. They would know how a company “thinks.” It really is a surveillance system for employees and the company itself. OK, now why would anyone ever use such a thing? Because it gives employees super powers. It makes them more productive. Shows workers a lot of things about themselves, and helps them work and stay on task. It also gives the company super powers. Institutional memory stays with the AI now, even if an employee dies or leaves. As companies move to “AI First” approaches, they will increasingly see the value in companies like Memory Store. It prepares employees for meetings. It helps them remember things. It shows them what they should be working on, and helps them do it. Memory Store builds a memory for: 1. Your agents. 2. Your company. 3. Yourself, or any employee on it. This helps all three work better together. Diwank Singh Tomer and I go in depth about what it does and how deeply it improves working at a company that deploys it. But to get the ultimate benefits you gotta convince your coworkers to use it. And your managers to approve it. Which means you have to get over your fears and get everyone you work with over theirs too. Which will be the challenge for Diwank. Luckily for him his first customers are raving about how good it is and how much his platform helped their companies. Increases sales. Makes teams more productive. Decreases errors and unnecessary costs. Which tells me everyone soon will be using systems like this. This is what the new way of working looks like. Once I got over my fears it sure is an amazing way to work. Will you try working this way?

Naval Ravikant on the importance of hiring high-agency people Naval defines agency as: “People who just solve problems without even being asked to solve the problem—they identify the problem, they go solve it, they don’t even necessarily have to update you every step of the way, they’re not asking silly questions, and they’re just coming up with solutions.” He believes this is important because “building a startup is an infinite set of problems that are being thrown at you.” And there comes a day where you can’t even look at every problem your company is facing—let alone solve every one of them. He cites the Vinod Khosla aphorism: "The team you build is the company you build, not the plan you make.” And your ability to solve problems is based entirely on how many problem-solvers you have at your company. As Naval puts it: “If you have somebody who takes 10% of your time and management to solve problems, you can only have 10 of those people working with you. But if somebody takes 5%, you can have 20 of those people.” When building Airchat and AngelList, he thought of each team as a Navy Seal team: “Everyone is just really good at what they do. They know their job. They do it. They don’t complain. They’re not egotistical about it. And if they have to constantly be corrected, led around by the nose, you have to clean up after them, or you question their judgement, it’s not going to work out.”
