The beavers aren't going to be happy about this!

Beavers build dams instinctively to stop the sound of running water. In still water, they burrow into mud, but if they hear water sounds, they start building

But why? The beavers had to have had a reason for building it.

Must be private property. In the county out here it would require 8 men and 4 days to accomplish what this one man did

Dams form ponds around their lodges, offering escape routes and winter food caches. This activity also benefits ecosystems by fostering biodiversity, purifying water, and controlling floods. Beavers' dam-building is an innate behavior enhancing their survival and habitat creation.

The world’s largest beaver dam is visible from space in satellite images. It is almost 800 metres long from end-to-end, and holds back run-off water from the Birch Mountains in the southernmost end of Wood Buffalo National Park.
