#lagunafire #VCFD and our partner agencies Ventura City Fire, Oxnard Fire, and Federal Fire Ventura County continue an aggressive attack on the fire burning off Laguna Road in the Oxnard plains. The fire is currently estimated at 15 acres. VCSO has issued evacuation orders for the Cal State Channel Islands Campus and fire resources are in place evaluating any potential structure threats. Residents are encouraged to follow and download the Watch Duty app for the latest evacuation updates and fire information. California: Eaton and Palisades Fire Morning Update: Eaton Fire: The Fire is 14,117 acres and 15% contained. 7,000 structures have been damaged or destroyed. They have 2,832 personnel currently on scene. Elevated Fire weather through Wednesday. Palisades Fire: The Fire is 21,596 acres and 11% contained. 100 engines were surged to Mandeville Canyon last night to help work the fire pushing towards to 405. They saw 1,000 acres of growth last night. 5,316 structures have been destroyed. Multiple people arrested last night breaking curfews. 8 fatalities on the Eaton Fire, 3 for the Palisades area. There are 13 people reported missing. Grid searches are underway across the fire areas. Thanks to the subscriber who shared this aerial footage of the fire area. 🙏

A large resource order including crews and aviation has been ordered. An evacuation shelter has been set up at La Pine High-school. The fire is very active.

Multiple aircraft are on scene as well, both fixed winged tankers, with a Type 1 helicopter conducting bucket work. Currently, westerly winds are moving the fire away from the Pine Mountain Observatory, a University of Oregon facility with research grade telescopes. Boots on the ground told me they have decent black to the North from a previous burn, and a fire scar to the east they may be able to tie it into. Last updated acreage still 1,500 acres, but may be larger.

#uwcnf #BuckBasinFire on the Heber-Kamas Ranger District grew to approximately 230 acres yesterday. Fire is burning in heavy dead standing fuels in mixed conifer and aspen stands. Resources made some good progess on building an initial anchor point to build off of for future shifts. Air support helped with bucket drops until weather picked up and were unable to continue in the afternoon. The fire is located in Buck Basin 4 to 5 miles northwest of the Currant Creek Reservoir. Red Creek Mountain Road FS080 and Low Pass Road FS106 are closed to the public at this time. Resources on scene: two engines, two Type 2 crews, two Type 1 helicopters, scoopers, water tender and a grader will be assisting the operations today. The cause of the fire has been determined as lightning. Crews were in the area today working on the northern section of the fire. There are currently 2,420 personnel on scene, including 378 engines, 20 Water Tenders, 34 Hand Crews, 17 Dozers and 14 helicopters. Damage assessment teams are in process of identifying and verifying the number of structures that have been impacted. Command of the Hazen Fire has been transferred to AZDFFM this evening on May 2. The fire is burning in salt cedar in the Gila River bottom to the east of State Highway 85, south of W. Hazen Rd. Current size is estimated at 273 acres and is 0% contained. The east side of the fire is holding along power line road with the north end actively burning. Flame lengths as high as 30 feet have been observed. Resources on scene include engines from multiple fire departments and miscellaneous overhead from DFFM. Additional resources have been ordered to include dozers and Type 2 handcrews. Closures: A road closure is in place on Highway 85. Follow Az and check AZ511 for current updates. Firefighters and made a quick and aggressive attack on this fire with multiple engines, one of our handcrews, and coordinated water drops by our Firehawk helicopters.
