Friends, in our second reading this Sunday, Paul writes to Timothy, “Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead, a descendant of David: such is my gospel.” The Gospel is not the ethical teachings of Jesus or the doctrinal teachings of Saint Paul; the Gospel is Jesus himself. And Christianity is not a noble spiritual path or a set of ideas; it’s a relationship to Jesus. All those other things are great and follow from him—but it’s about him!

James Talarico says “all religions of love point to the same truth.” But Christianity teaches the opposite. In John 14:6, Jesus says, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” You can respect other religions but you can’t claim they all lead to God. Christianity is exclusive in its claim that salvation is through Christ and Christ alone. It doesn't come as a surprise that Talarico is essentially a universalist who claims to be a Christian and uses some Christian tenets, but actually doesn't believe in the exclusivity of Christ.

NO ONE SOARS IN IGNORANCE — INVEST IN YOUR SPIRITUAL GROWTH! This year, make a conscious effort to build your spiritual understanding through Biblical teachings. Just like a student needs a teacher, spiritual growth requires guidance. Faith for breakthroughs comes from receiving light and revelation in specific areas of life. Humility is key when seeking wisdom from those who carry light in areas where you lack understanding. Stop blaming external circumstances for personal struggles, seek the word that will produce light in your life. Press deeper into your spiritual walk with God, and dedicate time to study teachings that address your concerns. Faith comes through hearing and understanding. No one soars in ignorance. God remains faithful even when we fail, but our lack of spiritual understanding can limit the manifestation of His promises in our lives. This is a call to press deeper and spend more time with God. Pray: Lord, I am tired of guessing in my spiritual walk, in ministry, in business, and in life. I desire clarity and direction. Lead me on the ancient paths of wisdom and light. Let me find grace and glory as I pursue You! Enduring to the end is not merely a relentless determination to grit our teeth, hold on to the limits of our physical strength and mental capacity, and push through the challenges and adversities of mortal life; it is so much more than that. Enduring to the end is the joyous quest of a lifetime—a pressing forward with faith in Jesus Christ in a gradual process of trusting in and receiving help from our Savior to become more like Him. As our love for Him grows ever stronger and deeper, we can be blessed to receive spiritual perspective, the Lord’s empowering grace, and exceedingly great and indescribable joy.
