In what sense is it "equal to removing 1 million cars"? CO2 emissions? 1.2 GW equivalent to ~426 tonne coal per hour, 1090 tonne CO2. 1 million cars driving 2 km each hour (17,500 km each pa), ~500 tonne CO2. Seems like natural gas fired electricity might be your reference (?)

You just have to shorten the development times to make costs more predictable. I like your AP300 SMRs also—though they have the same challenges.

Constructing a real AP1000® reactor is getting easier and faster! The sixth AP1000 reactor went into operation in the U.S. state of Georgia in 2024. It was 30% faster to build and 20% less expensive than the fifth one completed just the year before. The AP1000 reactor’s simple, modular design comes with the smallest footprint of any advanced gigawatt reactor design and pumps out more than 1,100 megawatts of emissions-free electricity 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
