It invests billions of dollars into new and affordable housing production, and it continues the vital work of protecting tenants from bad landlords. Over the next decade, we will build 200,000 affordable homes. We will preserve an additional 200,000 homes. No plan of this scale has ever been imagined, let alone proposed.

You saw my recent video showing low to middle-income homes at Catherine Estates. Today we look at development taking place in other sections of the housing market. While we have made significant strides in providing middle and affordable housing, we recognize the challenges in the low-income and achievable housing markets. That’s why we continue to incentivize development, provide land, and introduce initiatives like the Guaranteed Purchase Programme (GPP) to attract more builders to this sector. We want to see developers build 10,000 homes at a time, bringing houses to market at a much faster rate. With continued investment, capacity-building, and a long-term vision, we will ensure that every Jamaican has access to safe, affordable housing. We are committed to delivering quality housing for Jamaicans under our housing policy and the transformation of Bernard Lodge is just the beginning. As we continue on this journey, we reaffirm our commitment to the people of Jamaica, because under our housing policy, homeownership is a promise we intend to keep.

Development charges increase the cost of homes for everyone. They are a housing tax. During a housing crisis, we don’t think you should raise taxes on housing. That’s why provinces and cities must freeze the fees in order to get federal infrastructure funding. Conservatives have no plan to address these taxes. Urban Growth with Vision: Laying the Path for 50 Years Ahead! Chaired a meeting on financial planning of statewide urban infrastructure and civic amenities projects under the Maharashtra Urban Infrastructure Fund (MUINFRA). While reviewing the meeting, expressed that long-term planning is essential for basic services such as sewage, drainage, solid waste management and water supply in our cities. Separate plans must be prepared for each sector, focusing not only on funding but also on resource planning. Also highlighted that projects must not stall due to lack of funds and sufficient arrangements should be made to ensure their completion. Local bodies must receive financial support and the facilities created must be effectively monitored. Urban development is not just about constructing buildings, but a process that drives social and economic progress. We have a huge infrastructure spending backlog in Tshwane, especially in townships including in Hammanskraal. For years, our spending on infrastructure has lagged behind the city’s population growth. Many capital projects, for roads and storm water, were cancelled by the previous administration. We have taken a decision to correct this problem by allocating funds for infrastructure projects. In the draft budget 2026/27 we have set aside R2,8 billion for infrastructure projects with an increase to R3,5 billion in the following year. #TshwaneIDP City of Tshwane

MINISTER OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT DARMA TREATEN TO REVOKE CONTRACT FOR RENEWED HOPE HOUSING PROJECT IN YOBE The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Dr. Muttaqa Rabe Darma, has expressed disappointment over the slow pace of work on the Renewed Hope Housing Estate project in Yobe State. Adam Yusuf Ali reports that during an inspection visit to the site in Damaturu, the minister threatened to revoke the contracts of non-performing contractors after discovering that the project awarded in 2024 with a four-month completion timeline, is still only about forty percent completed nearly two years later.

In 2021 Glenveagh were as good as gifted the public land at Oscar Traynor Woods. Today, their profits are up 103%, for every unit they deliver €50,000 is pure profit while their ‘affordable housing’ isn’t affordable and their building standards have resulted in work having to be halted! The private market does not have the capacity or the interest to provide genuinely affordable housing, this is why we need to break with them and end our dependence on profit-driven developers. A state construction company can build genuinely affordable housing because first and foremost it exists to house people, not to make a profit off of peoples housing insecurity. That’s the difference. In 2025 we need a bold and radical housing movement to fight back against the governments failed housing model. There are alternatives. There are solutions. Join PBP and help us build the fight for a future that puts people before profit!

The Communities First Team and I signed a repeal guarantee that once we are elected, we will repeal blanket rezoning at our first official council meeting. Blanket rezoning is not the solution for building housing and does not equal affordable housing. Repealing this policy means that we can ensure that we can build smart and effective by keeping the character of the neighbourhoods in our city. As your Mayor, I will improve the development process by cutting the red tape and providing a solution for building infrastructure that benefits all Calgarians. Your voice matters in this election and I and the Communities First team will listen to you and be transparent on the developments in Calgary.
