Kushian Muchiri, Chair, Association of Matatu Transport Owners: We had a lengthy discussion, and after the deliberations, we were able to agree on one major item, which was the adulteration, because all our vehicles, since a few years ago, the government instructed that we no longer have Euro 3 vehicles coming in, and as a result, we have Euro 4 and 5 engines. Those vehicles are fuel sensitive. We could not agree on the issue of having kerosene with a difference of 70-100 shillings from diesel. I want to thank the CS and his team because they were able to see reason and logic in our argument. We agreed unanimously that we make sure the price of kerosene and diesel is at par so that we don’t have those issues of adulteration. There is nobody using kerosene at home nowadays #CitizenMondayReport

Waymo is being marketed as a “Green environmentally friendly” because they are “all-electric, zero-emission vehicles” But take a look at this, the entire fleet here in Austin Texas is being charged with Diesel generators…. Just another scam Here’s something even more crazy, I looked it up and found that charging electric vehicles like this with diesel generators is actually WORSE for the environment than if you were to just buy and drive a gas powered vehicle So this means not only is it a scam, but it’s worse for the environment than just driving a normal car

Male’ has a volume issue. Vehicle owners will not switch to buses. The people who use buses are those who find taxis too expensive or who have no other options. Those who own vehicles will not switch to buses cause a private vehicle offers convenience and flexibility that buses don’t. Buses in Male’ are a last resort, economical option for the people who use them. They should not be viewed as a traffic congestion solving policy. Increasing the number of buses will only take up more road space in Male’ and will not reduce the number of private vehicles and taxis. The only way to solve the congestion is to limit the number of vehicles.
