The commitment from the Government of India is that we want Canadian investors to come and have greater engagement with India. India is the economy in which people should take interest, because with that kind of population, with that kind of purchasing power, consumption and demand exist. Forging global partnerships is essential to our development. The Government of India, through its accomplishments and innovations, stands as an excellent development partner. My visit here has solidified the tremendous potential for collaboration, and we have already signed key partnership agreements. India has made significant strides in its development and, though much larger than Jamaica, it has faced and overcome many of the same challenges we now confront. Despite the physical distance between Jamaica and India, we share common bonds through culture, the Commonwealth, CARICOM, and cricket. India’s willingness to deepen our friendship and cooperation is a testament to the great mutual benefits that can be achieved by working together. Jamaica should view this renewed push for cooperation as an important step toward the overall improvement of our people. Beyond government-to-government cooperation, we are focused on health, education and training, energy, technology, and sports. India has a large and vibrant business community, and Jamaica is an excellent destination for investment. My heartfelt thanks go to Prime Minister Modi for the warm reception extended to Jamaica and for the hand of cooperation. I look forward to the positive impact of our discussions on both the people of India and Jamaica.

#WATCH | Delhi: On being asked how confident Moscow is about the India-Russia energy cooperation, Russian Ambassador to India, Denis Alipov, says, "The question is - how confident is India? India has shown that it's able to stand its ground and defend its national interests. And when we speak about the sanctions pertaining to oil trade, the tariffs are also related to the cooperation between Russia and India in oil supplies. These interests are paramount for India. We would be ready to supply as much oil as India needs. Unfortunately, those who impose sanctions and tariffs have taken the path of pressure tactics instead of honest cooperation, which prevents those countries from offering a better deal to India in oil than us. The world will not cope if Russian oil is excluded. The energy markets cannot afford that. Russian oil will stay in the market for India and other countries. Glad to see our Hon'ble Finance Minister, Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman ji refer to stablecoins and how countries around the world have just two options: to either explore it or risk exclusion. I personally believe that India should embrace stablecoins! India receives over $125B in remittances annually, and stablecoins can reduce costs from 6-7% to just 1-3% saving us billions in fees. India already has one of the world's best fintech ecosystems and we have a great opportunity to embrace virtual digital assets and further leapfrog in the digital revolution. 🇮🇳💪

However, for robust global growth, national efforts must be complemented by an enabling international environment. We remain committed to South-South and Triangular Cooperation. We support the call for a reversal in the decline of ODA, and urge developed countries for enhancing climate finance that is predictable, accessible, and concessional - particularly for adaptation in vulnerable countries. #WATCH | Delhi: During press statement with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Japanese PM Sanae Takaichi says, "You called me a beautiful younger sister, Prime Minister Modi but at, the small meeting before the big meeting, we we confirmed that we are on the same page and develop this relationship as brother and sister. Japan and India must leverage our respective strength to become stronger and more prosperous together. During her official visit to the United Kingdom, Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman met Rt. Hon. Keir Starmer, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, in presence of Ms. Rachel Reeves Chancellor of Exchequer of the UK, and discussed trade and investment, and issues of mutual interest between the two countries.
