They stopped, put him in their car and brought him straight to us๐Ÿ’”โค๏ธ He had been dumped in a ditch, his bed dumped there beside him. Left like he meant nothing ๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’” How can anyone do that to such a beautiful, gentle soul? Thankfully, he is safe with us now. Thankfully, our incredible volunteer MLHR Lauren showed patience and kindness, slowly gaining his trust until she was finally able to bring him to safety. Heโ€™s only 5 months old. Emaciated. RIP Bradley Cooper ๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’” Today, we said our goodbyes to a truly sweet gentleman, an old soul with so much love to give. Bradley came to us diagnosed with cancer, along with his best friend Bobby, the St. Bernard. While Bobby was young and found his forever home, poor Bradley needed palliative care. Thanks to his angel, MLHR Laura, Bradley spent his final days surrounded by love. Sadly, his illness progressed quickly. This morning, weak and in pain, he was given pain relief by the vet and was able to spend his last moments at his favorite place, the beach. Sand on his paws, sun on his face, and surrounded by kindness ๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’” Bradley experienced joy and so much love โค๏ธ Bradley never received the care he deserved before coming to us. His previous owner neglected him, letting him and Bobby suffer, something that makes our hearts ache and our anger rise ๐Ÿ˜ก If only he had cared for Bradley as he should have, perhaps Bradley would still be with us today. But today was about Bradley. Today was about love. Today was about making his last day beautiful, full of comfort, happiness, and dignity. ๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’”DO YOU REMEMBER LITTLE DAVE THE PUG?? Our gorgeous Dave, now known as Chance, finally got the second chance he so deserved. Only a few months ago, little Dave was found outside a house, abandoned in the hail, rain, and snow. The poor boy was trying to sleep and shelter wherever he could, under a doorway and even in a plant pot. ๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’” It was absolutely heartbreaking. We travelled to Limerick and contacted the An Garda Sรญochรกna, who were incredible. Together, we went straight to the house, and little Dave was seized and brought to safety. ๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’”DO YOU REMEMBER LITTLE DAVE THE PUG?? Our gorgeous Dave, now known as Chance, finally got the second chance he so deserved. Only a few months ago, little Dave was found outside a house, abandoned in the hail, rain, and snow. The poor boy was trying to sleep and shelter wherever he could, under a doorway and even in a plant pot. ๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’” It was absolutely heartbreaking. We travelled to Limerick and contacted the An Garda Sรญochรกna, who were incredible. Together, we went straight to the house, and little Dave was seized and brought to safety. Alongside the Dublin City Council Animal Welfare Unit Team, we spent a long time patiently trying to gain his trust. Eventually, we managed to get him to safety. The poor thing had a rope wrapped so tightly around his two large horns that it had been knotted in place. It was heartbreaking to see. ๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’” It was obvious he'd been tied up and secured to a brick in the field, with no sign of water, left alone, frightened, and vulnerable.๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ˜ก What is going on? We really need to do better as a country. Animals deserve kindness, care, and protection. A goat should never be abandoned in a City, tied to a brick and left to fend for himself. It's simply unacceptable.๐Ÿ˜ก It's situations like this that make us feel angry and deeply saddened. But thanks to teamwork, this lovely boy is now safe. Mama is exhausted, underweight, had been trying her best to feed her babies despite having so little herself. ๐Ÿ’” We literally have no room, what else could we do, thereโ€™s no room at dog pounds, rescuesโ€ฆitโ€™s just heart breaking ๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’” Times are very hard, we are exhausted and we canโ€™t do this alone. ๐Ÿ’” ๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’”WE LEFT BORRIS CARLOW HEARTBROKEN, ANGRY AND ASKING: HOW IS THIS ALLOWED TO HAPPEN?๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ˜ก๐Ÿ˜ก๐Ÿ˜ก Yesterday our MLHR team made an emergency trip to the horse fair in Borris, Co. Carlow, and what we witnessed was devastating. Horses left without food or water, exhausted and some in terrible condition. One young horse, only around a year old, was covered in ringworm, had just one shoe and was desperately weak. He was being sold for โ‚ฌ150. Thankfully, we managed to get him out before he was sold. He is now safe with us and receiving veterinary care. โค๏ธโ€๐Ÿฉน But it wasn't only the horses. We witnessed people shooting pellet guns at locals and at animals. One mare who was shot with a pellet gun went running up the street with her goal following, heart breaking , ๐Ÿ˜ก๐Ÿ˜ก๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’” We also tried desperately to help two puppies, but by the time we found a Garda who was willing to help us, the puppies had disappeared.๐Ÿ˜ก๐Ÿ’” At one point, a member of our MLHR team was also put in danger. We raised our concerns with Boris An Garda Sรญochรกna , but we were deeply disappointed that we did not feel the seriousness of the situation was being taken as seriously as it should have been.๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ˜ก We always work and highly respect an garda Siochana , some of our volunteers and friends are Gardaรญ, which is why this experience was particularly upsetting. We left Borris angry, heartbroken and exhausted, wondering how this level of suffering can be allowed to happen in Ireland. And this isn't just about Borris. These fairs happen across the country. PLEASE, DON'T LOOK AWAY.๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’” If you see animals being neglected, denied food or water, injured, sick or in danger, REPORT IT. Document what you safely can and speak up.
