๐Ÿ’” OUR HEARTS ARE BREAKING FOR POOR LIAM ๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’” Yesterday we rescued this tiny, terrified little whippet from around the Mulhuddart area, Dublin. Thanks to the incredible locals who found where he was hiding and alerted us, we were able to get to him.โค๏ธ๐Ÿ’” He was absolutely emaciated, covered in dry, damaged skin and shaking uncontrollably. ๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’” His leg was badly broken. He was so weak and frail that we had to carry him through the fields๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’” With the help of our dogs, he finally trusted us enough to come out. We brought him straight to Village Vets Ashbourne, who took him in immediately and have cared for him amazingly โค๏ธโค๏ธโค๏ธ Today, after X-rays and consultations, we got the devastating news that Liam's leg cannot be saved. He needs an amputation tomorrow. ๐Ÿ’” This poor boy has already suffered so much. Thankfully, our incredible volunteer MLHR Lauren showed patience and kindness, slowly gaining his trust until she was finally able to bring him to safety. Heโ€™s only 5 months old. Emaciated. Covered in mange. Frightened of the world around him. ๐Ÿ’” And as if that wasnโ€™t enoughโ€ฆ a cable had been tied tightly around his tiny neck. The pain and cruelty this little boy has endured is unimaginable. We are beyond heartbroken and angry. POOR LITTLE GUY ABANDONED AND TIED TO A RAILING IN PALMERSTOWN, DUBLIN๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’” Locals alerted us early this morning and two of our volunteers got there in minutes, luckily one lives near by. The poor little dog was totally distraught, scared, itโ€™s whole world upside down. We have no idea how long this poor little dote was left. Itโ€™s crazy, people donโ€™t want their dogs so they are literally throwing them out like rubbish because pounds and rescues all over Ireland are full. SO ANGRYโ€ฆ๐Ÿคฌ๐Ÿคฌ Today we had a call from two lovely humans that work in Poppy May's Coffee and Cake Roberts town. This poor dog had been clipped by a car and stayed with them until we got there, they were so unbelievably kind to her. The poor dog was chipped and registered, we were so happy until we called the number on the chipโ€ฆit was a horrible phone call, a horrible cruel human on the other end of the phone that basically said, in his own wordsโ€I donโ€™t want it, I sold it to some fella, keep it, I donโ€™t care if it was knocked down, go away and take it with yaโ€ There was a couple of curse words in there too! We are so angry, so disgusted, this poor girl is 8 years of age, she didnโ€™t ask to be born into this world, all she asked for was to be loved! This is how Ireland behaves towards animals, we have so many cruel humans that literally donโ€™t give a damn ๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿคฌ๐Ÿคฌ๐Ÿคฌ๐Ÿคฌ Poppy May is now in our care, we reported the so called previous owner to An Garda Sรญochรกna. POOR HORSE ๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’”โ€ฆ.ONE OF THE RIOT HORSES ๐Ÿ˜ก๐Ÿ˜ก๐Ÿ˜ก๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’” Today we had a call from An Garda Sรญochรกna Tallaght, this poor horse was lying on the ground and could not get up, suspected colic. Garda Kate moved fast, she has horse experience and was eventually able to get the poor thing up of the ground, he was totally exhausted and struggled to walk. We arrived and he was very lethargic but moving so we called our vet making sure heโ€™d be ready once we got him loaded. When waiting on transport we discovered this is the horse in the video on the trap with a child on the drivers lap that was ridden into the riots at City West last week ๐Ÿ˜ก๐Ÿ˜ก๐Ÿ˜ก๐Ÿ˜ก๐Ÿ˜ก๐Ÿ˜ก The poor soul has severe cuts on his legs from Ill fitted straps and sores on his mouth from the bit. No wonder he was weak ๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’” Gardaรญ are now investigating. Alongside the Dublin City Council Animal Welfare Unit Team, we spent a long time patiently trying to gain his trust. Eventually, we managed to get him to safety. The poor thing had a rope wrapped so tightly around his two large horns that it had been knotted in place. It was heartbreaking to see. ๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’” It was obvious he'd been tied up and secured to a brick in the field, with no sign of water, left alone, frightened, and vulnerable.๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ˜ก What is going on? We really need to do better as a country. Animals deserve kindness, care, and protection. A goat should never be abandoned in a City, tied to a brick and left to fend for himself. It's simply unacceptable.๐Ÿ˜ก It's situations like this that make us feel angry and deeply saddened. But thanks to teamwork, this lovely boy is now safe. A huge thank you to the Dublin City Council Animal Welfare Unit for their help and dedication. ๐Ÿ’” ๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’”WE LEFT BORRIS CARLOW HEARTBROKEN, ANGRY AND ASKING: HOW IS THIS ALLOWED TO HAPPEN?๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ˜ก๐Ÿ˜ก๐Ÿ˜ก Yesterday our MLHR team made an emergency trip to the horse fair in Borris, Co. Carlow, and what we witnessed was devastating. Horses left without food or water, exhausted and some in terrible condition. One young horse, only around a year old, was covered in ringworm, had just one shoe and was desperately weak. He was being sold for โ‚ฌ150. Thankfully, we managed to get him out before he was sold. He is now safe with us and receiving veterinary care. โค๏ธโ€๐Ÿฉน But it wasn't only the horses. We witnessed people shooting pellet guns at locals and at animals. One mare who was shot with a pellet gun went running up the street with her goal following, heart breaking , ๐Ÿ˜ก๐Ÿ˜ก๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’” We also tried desperately to help two puppies, but by the time we found a Garda who was willing to help us, the puppies had disappeared.๐Ÿ˜ก๐Ÿ’” At one point, a member of our MLHR team was also put in danger. We raised our concerns with Boris An Garda Sรญochรกna , but we were deeply disappointed that we did not feel the seriousness of the situation was being taken as seriously as it should have been.๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ˜ก We always work and highly respect an garda Siochana , some of our volunteers and friends are Gardaรญ, which is why this experience was particularly upsetting. We left Borris angry, heartbroken and exhausted, wondering how this level of suffering can be allowed to happen in Ireland. And this isn't just about Borris. These fairs happen across the country. PLEASE, DON'T LOOK AWAY.๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’” If you see animals being neglected, denied food or water, injured, sick or in danger, REPORT IT. Document what you safely can and speak up. And please help us care for the pony we managed to rescue. His veterinary treatment, medication, feed, farrier care and rehabilitation will all cost money. One young horse, only around a year old, was covered in ringworm, had just one shoe and was desperately weak. He was being sold for โ‚ฌ150. Thankfully, we managed to get him out before he was sold. He is now safe with us and receiving veterinary care. โค๏ธโ€๐Ÿฉน But it wasn't only the horses. We witnessed people shooting pellet guns at locals and at animals. One mare who was shot with a pellet gun went running up the street with her goal following, heart breaking , ๐Ÿ˜ก๐Ÿ˜ก๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’” We also tried desperately to help two puppies, but by the time we found a Garda who was willing to help us, the puppies had disappeared.๐Ÿ˜ก๐Ÿ’” At one point, a member of our MLHR team was also put in danger. We raised our concerns with Boris An Garda Sรญochรกna , but we were deeply disappointed that we did not feel the seriousness of the situation was being taken as seriously as it should have been.๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ˜ก We always work and highly respect an garda Siochana , some of our volunteers and friends are Gardaรญ, which is why this experience was particularly upsetting. We left Borris angry, heartbroken and exhausted, wondering how this level of suffering can be allowed to happen in Ireland. And this isn't just about Borris. These fairs happen across the country. PLEASE, DON'T LOOK AWAY.๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’” If you see animals being neglected, denied food or water, injured, sick or in danger, REPORT IT. Document what you safely can and speak up.
