Seems light on *how* NHS will go about retaining the existing workforce (& in fairness so is @wesstreeting @UKLabour) Glad to see ◉ Greater tech use on your list. I know you are a fan of AI, see what @OpenAI says the answer is (have a good read of para 1) 👍#PayRestoration

Sorry, remind me, how many are you ‘retaining’? Lol

Start with RETENTION RETENTION RETENTION!!! Without a motivated existing workforce to train the new workforce ANY plan is destined to fail. “Train them so others want to poach them. Treat them so they want to stay.”

Like the 40 hospitals - here they are some time never - won't matter to us we won't be in power in 15 months let alone 15 years

You cannot do this proposal unless you retain experienced staff. The message to nurse and doctors here is ‘ we can train anyone to do your job’ Plus how do you think nurses & doctors with £45/60k debt are going to view fully paid apprentices????

@Conservatives Historic only because Tories have broken every part of the NHS. 13 yrs ago the Tories could have invested in growth while interest rates were near 0% Instead they chose austerity - due to debt NOW they decide to invest…when debt is 2.5x worse? Is an election coming up? .

Workforce plan welcome Who is going to train, oversee & mentor all the new healthcare professionals coming into the #NHS? We urgently need a credible & realistic plan to retain senior experienced NHS staff, esp if newcomers are going to have accelerated training & apprenticeships

People often say that we need immigration because without it, the NHS would collapse. This just is not true. At the moment, we're not training enough medics in this country - but this is a choice. We do not need to rely on staff from overseas. The NHS has a deeply unusual setup when it comes to its workforce. The Government sets the rules for who can qualify as a medical professional, decides how many medical training places to offer, and controls the flow of medical graduates into the NHS. It decides how much to charge students, and under what conditions. And because the NHS is by far the country's main employer of medical professionals, the Government also has effective control over the pay and conditions of those who qualify, and is responsible for deciding where medical trainees go, and when. So the Health Service isn't subject to the same labour market forces as other organisations. The Government controls both the supply *and* the demand of its own workforce. In 2025, we had 15,723 British-trained doctors competing for 12,833 NHS training posts. Those British-trained doctors had already been whittled down from the thousands of people who apply to train as doctors every year, of whom only half are accepted. Hundreds of those rejected each year have three A* grades at A Level. The reason that we don't offer more medical degrees is because, at the moment, the NHS doesn't have enough training places for British-trained doctors. But at the same time, under the current system, British-trained doctors aren't given priority when it comes to the training places that we *do* have. So not only were those 15,723 British-trained doctors competing with each other for just 12,833 training places, they were also competing with 25,257 doctors trained overseas. This is rubbish for those British doctors, and a colossal waste of money for the rest of us, because it costs taxpayers about a quarter of a million pounds to educate each doctor to the point of graduating. But perhaps this means the NHS gets the very best doctors? No. In fact, doctors trained overseas are 2.5 times more likely to be referred to the GMC, the regulator responsible for maintaining standards in the medical profession. The GMC hears cases relating to professional misconduct and medical malpractice. Exchanging British-trained doctors for those trained overseas is not always a like-for-like swap. But here’s the craziest twist of all. The training places we do have are *randomly allocated*. No priority for British doctors, despite the fact we’ve paid to teach them. And no priority for the best graduates, despite the fact we need their skills. Top performing students have no choice over where they go, and aren't given priority when allocating new training places. They often have to wait months to find out where they're being posted, and will often receive very little notice before being asked to pick up sticks and relocate to another part of the country. Last summer, one of my constituents qualified as a doctor. He graduated with one of the very highest marks in the year, in the top three, from one of the most competitive medical schools in the country. He is clearly an outstanding student and will make an incredible doctor. In any sane system he would have been placed immediately, and been able to choose his location and specialism to keep him incentivised and happy within the NHS, and to make the most of his obviously considerable talents. Instead, because of the mismanagement of places and the lottery system, he wasn’t placed in the first round of allocations. He wasn’t placed in the second round. He wasn’t even placed in the third round, or even the fourth. With less than four weeks to go he still had no placement and no sense of where he would be spending the next few years of his life, including whether he might be able to live close to his partner, another doctor qualifying at the same time as him. He might not have got a training placement at all. Fortunately, the Government is looking to change the system, so that British-trained doctors are prioritised for training places. This is a great change. We need to train more medical professionals in this country, including doctors. The Health Service does not need to rely on overseas doctors - there is plenty of talent right here. But we also need a system which prizes excellence, and provides clarity for medical trainees. The most talented, British-trained graduate doctors should clearly get top priority, and should be able to operate within a system that makes it possible to plan their lives and build a career here. Both medical trainees and patients would benefit from such a system. The alternative is more talented British doctors going abroad, and more reliance on migration.

Texas Sports Academy x Dynamic Prep coming in January! We're partnering with Jermaine O'Neal and the #1 team in the nation, Dynamic Prep, to create the best middle school in DFW for serious athletes. We've already created an amazing facility. We remodeled a traditional school to turn it into a D1 athlete-producing factory. Dynamic Prep plays there already: - We've hosted their Faze games in the OTE league - This gym is already becoming one of the most exciting places in Texas to watch elite athletes hoop The facility has a state-of-the-art weight room, gym, film room, and podcast room. But here's what really sets us apart, our 4 Commitments: 1. Double Your D1 Odds: Every student gets an athletic assessment and personalized skill development plan. We focus on fundamentals that other programs ignore... fixing weaknesses, not just playing to strengths. 2. Long-Term Athletic Development: We train well-rounded, holistic athletes through speed & agility training, balance, coordination, and LTAD principles. All our coaches have sent athletes to D1 programs. 3. Learn 2x in 2 Hours: Powered by Alpha School's proven model, we use personalized learning, mastery-based learning, and learning science principles so students crush academics and training by 4pm - with no homework and more family dinners. 4. Kids Love School: We make sports fun again. No burnout from excessive competitive games. Instead, we focus on skill development, life skills (nutrition, sports psychology, financial literacy, public speaking), and teaching kids to build their audience early. This is the future of elite athletics.

The entire world witnessed allied action in the skies above Israel and neighboring countries. It demonstrated how truly effective unity in defending against terror can be when it is based on sufficient political will. Israel, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, and Jordan acted together and with maximum efficiency. Together, they prevented terror from prevailing. And they are working together, and in coordination with others, to prevent further escalation. Israel is not a NATO member, so no action, such as triggering Article 5, was required. And no one was dragged into the war. They simply contributed to the protection of human life. "Shaheds" in the skies above Ukraine sound identical to those over the Middle East. The impact of ballistic missiles, if they are not intercepted, is the same everywhere. European skies could have received the same level of protection long ago if Ukraine had received similar full support from its partners in intercepting drones and missiles. Terror must be defeated completely and everywhere, not more in some places and less in others. I thank everyone in the world, every leader and state, who truly assists us with air defense and missiles necessary to protect our skies, as well as training our pilots on F-16s. All of this already works and will continue to work to save lives. However, we can now see how unity can work truly a hundred percent, and how almost a hundred percent of “Shaheds” and missiles can be intercepted. We will discuss it with our partners.

Deceptive and antisemitic narratives are flooding our college campuses—and they are winning the hearts of young people. We cannot remain silent. Charlie Kirk’s voice for Israel was unique and powerful. In his final letter to Prime Minister Netanyahu, he voiced a sobering concern: Israel is losing support among conservative youth. That warning could not have been more timely—or more urgent. Charlie spoke with courage and clarity, cutting through propaganda and lies. But now, with his absence, others are stepping into the spotlight on college campuses. Instead of defending truth, they are distorting it—exchanging biblical conviction for false and misleading narratives. Young people are listening, and they are being led astray. We cannot sit on the sidelines while this happens. The stakes are simply too high. That is why we are launching the Task Force Initiative—a comprehensive effort to reach the next generation with God’s truth about Israel. This vision will include short-term projects that address immediate needs while building toward a long-term mission that will shape our ministry for years to come. Here’s the roadmap: 1 - Curriculum Development – We will create a solid, Bible-centered curriculum for use in churches, small groups, and student fellowships. This will give young adults a foundation rooted in Scripture, not in opinion or politics. 2 - Digital Engagement – We will build an active presence on social media platforms, especially TikTok, where so much of this generation receives its information. Through short, creative, and engaging content, we will cut through the noise and speak truth in places where lies dominate. 3- Experiential Impact – Whenever possible, we want to bring young people to Israel itself. There is no substitute for seeing the land, walking its soil, and witnessing God’s promises fulfilled with their own eyes. Such encounters can transform skepticism into conviction and misinformation into lifelong advocacy. This is not just a short-term response—it is a long-term mission. We are not here for a hit-and-run effort, but to weave this into the very fabric of our ministry, ensuring that the next generation is discipled, equipped, and anchored in the Word of God. But time is critical. The battle for hearts and minds is happening now. Every day that passes is another day falsehoods are sown deeper into this generation. That is why we are asking you to prayerfully consider standing with us today. Your gift will directly fund the creation of this task force—assembling the right people, producing the content, and launching this mission. Together, we can ensure that the truth is not only defended but proclaimed boldly to those who need it most. Donate here: Thank you for considering this urgent and strategic opportunity. With your help, we can fill the gap, protect the next generation, and advance God’s truth for Israel.

Everything Elon said about Optimus on the Q4 2024 earnings call: ⦿ I see a path for Tesla to be the most valuable company in the world, possibly bigger than the next five companies combined, overwhelmingly due to autonomous vehicles and autonomous humanoid robots. ⦿ The training compute needed for Optimus will ultimately probably be 10× what is needed for cars. Humanoids likely have 1,000× more useS than a car, which doesn't mean training scales by 1,000×, but probably close to 10×. The training compute will scale progressively as Optimus becomes more productive. ⦿ Long-term, Optimus has the potential to generate $10 trillion in revenue. In that scenario, we can support a lot of training compute. Even $500 billion in training compute is a good deal (chuckles). ⦿ There's a lot of uncertainty with timing because several aspects are being iterated simultaneously. The internal plan is for roughly 10,000 robots to be built this year, but we'll more likely produce several thousand. ⦿ I'm confident those several thousand robots will be able to do useful things. ⦿ The lessons from Production V1 will inform the changes in Production V2, which we expect to launch around mid-next year. ⦿ Our goal, aspirationally, is to ramp 10× every year, but perhaps we end up with 5× growth per year. With that kind of growth, it won't be many years before we're making 100 million robots a year. ⦿ The off-the-shelf components didn't work well, so we had to design everything in-house, including the most sophisticated hand ever made. Optimus will be able to play a piano and thread a needle. ⦿ My long-term prediction is that Optimus will overwhelmingly be the value of the company. ⦿ Optimus is not design-locked. It is rapidly evolving in a good direction. Tesla has by far the best humanoid robotics engineers in the world. Tesla also has all the other necessary ingredients: battery pack, power electronics, charging, communications, real-world AI, and the ability to scale production. ⦿ What other companies are missing is real-world AI and the ability to scale to millions of units a year. ⦿ This year, we aim to use Optimus internally at Tesla. We can easily use several thousand robots at Tesla for repetitive tasks, such as loading sheet metal at the welding line. ⦿ The Production V1 line is roughly 1,000 units per month. The Production V2, launching around mid-next year, will be for 10k units per month. The line after that will be for 100k units a month. Of course, it takes time for any given line to reach its maximum potential. ⦿ A very rough guess: we'll start delivering Optimus to companies outside of Tesla in the second half of 2026. The ramp is going to be exponential, and demand will not be a problem. ⦿ Once we're above 1 million units per year, the production cost of Optimus will be less than $20,000. Its total mass and complexity are much lower than a car. At a similar production volume to the Model Y, Optimus should be about half the cost of a Model Y. ⦿ The price is a different matter than cost. The price of Optimus will be set by market demand. [This is by far the longest Elon has ever spent discussing Optimus on an earnings call.]

How I Build My Teams I always liked the idea of ‘possession football’: - Control the game. - A tool to develop players. - The opponent can’t score without the ball. But I built it the wrong way: “Keep the ball. Find a gap to attack.” This turned into “side-to-side” passing. It was boring and ineffective. \ The idea. So, I flipped the idea: Instead of controlling to attack, we attack to control. Play as vertical as possible (while maintaining control). If not possible, pass back. Avoid sideways passes. For better connections and counter-press, we use a vertical, narrow structure: These simple decisions lead to short, vertical, and diagonal passes. This is what I call 'vertical possession' football. \ Make it work. The idea is simple. The execution is not. Over the years, I’ve worked to close the gap between vision and reality. (watch example below) My goal is to get closer to my vision every day. But as Vince Lombardi said: “Perfection is unattainable, but if we chase perfection we can catch excellence.” Here’s my plan to 'catch excellence': 1. Build it my way. Ignore opinions. Opinions lead to conformity. We reduce our philosophy to its essence—and build from there. Everything else is a distraction. 2. Stick to it. We limit ourselves to core principles, and stick to them. When there’s a problem, we don’t change the idea—we improve its execution. 3. Eliminate waste. Building a style of play is like carving a statue. You start with a block of marble and chip away everything unnecessary. All that’s left is the sculpture. We do the same. We cut every unnecessary touch and step: - Fewer touches mean we need less time and space. We have more space to be creative. - The simpler it gets, the more recognizable the style. 4. Obsess over the players. We don’t adapt to opponents. We focus on our players. That's what matters in the long run. When our ideas work, we can compete against anyone. 5. Develop technical and creative players as a by-product. - Possession: Many touches to refine technique. - Vertical: No “easy” sideways passes. Learn to play in tight spaces. - Control: Avoid hectic football. Control the ball to make deliberate decisions. 6. One Training Structure. We compress our philosophy into one structure. Then, we repeat it every session. We make our style of play a habit. And we develop the tools to execute it. 7. Master a Few Exercises. We repeat a small set of core games over and over. We focus on improving execution, not on new drills. The better we execute, the faster we get to our vision. 8. Bottleneck Coaching. We can’t predict what happens, so we don’t over-plan. Instead, we prepare for what might happen. This liberates our coaching: Rather than sticking to pre-planned coaching points, we solve the most critical issue—the bottleneck. 9. Competition Drives Development. Games are the core of our training. Players compete to win. They force each other to get better and better, session after session. 10. Positive Team Culture. I used to react with anger when things didn’t go right. And yes, it can work in the short term. But to build something great, players must stay on the path for a long time. This is more likely when they enjoy the process. Positive reinforcement is harder to do, but more sustainable. \ What's next? That's the plan. Now, it’s all about execution. I'll keep you updated.
