How Cardano's Leios upgrade turns one block every 20 seconds into 65x the throughput Today every transaction waits on a single block every 20 seconds. Leios adds two layers beneath it. Input blocks bundle transactions every 0.2 to 2 seconds, and endorser blocks validate them in parallel every 5 seconds. The 20-second ranking block still anchors final order, so Praos security carries over intact. Cardano Community's Musashi Dojo testnet is live now, with the mainnet fork targeted for November. $ADA

Cardano Scales by Measuring First The Cardano Leios team has released a mempool visualiser, and it is a solid piece of work. As throughput increases, the mempool becomes critical infrastructure. Transaction propagation, ordering behaviour, and fragmentation effects start to matter. This visualiser sits alongside the Leios simulation framework and renders trace data so researchers can replay scenarios, inspect how mempool state evolves across nodes, and study behaviour under different network and protocol conditions. This is about understanding system behaviour before it reaches users. Instrumenting the protocol, observing edge cases early, and using evidence to guide design decisions as Leios progresses toward a high throughput Cardano. This has long been Cardano’s approach. Credit to the Leios team again. Open, inspectable tooling like this is exactly what responsible scaling looks like, and it gives the community real visibility into how the protocol is being developed. The real reason behind Cardano’s Leios upgrade is actually an economic puzzle. 🧩 It isn't just about speed, it's about solving a long-term sustainability problem. As ADA reserves decrease over time, transaction volume needs to step up to fund staking rewards for users and SPOs. Leios allows Cardano to safely scale to provide that capacity without losing the determinism we hold near and dear. Even the early stages of this rollout will support a few thousand TPS, giving the network massive headroom to exceed the 50 TPS needed to be fully self-sustaining. Transaction times were too slow on EOAs — and so users wouldn’t be able to take advantage of the real time transaction methods enables. Now, we’ve drastically improved the transaction processing times for both EOA wallets by implementing 7702 throughout the entire product and implementing the real time transaction API. Everytime you use GTE, your transactions will take only the time it takes to round trip between you and the sequencer. This is usually around 200ms if you’re across the world from the sequencer (which is about as fast as you blink). Now, there is no difference between using GTE and a CEX. This is what it means to be the fastest decentralized exchange in the world. You’re going to have fun trading on GTE!
