This is following a trip at the Substation, which was initially triggered by overloading, on Wednesday afternoon. Affected areas include Bellevue, Yeoville, Upper Houghton, Observatory, and surrounding areas. The ETR will be confirmed in subsequent updates. We are committed to providing regular updates to customers as the situation develops. We appeal for your patience and understanding as we work tirelessly to ensure full power restoration to the affected areas.^MB

A fire outbreak at the Akosombo Substation a while ago has caused a disruption in power generation. As a result, power supply has been affected in some parts of the country. A full evaluation is currently underway to determine the extent of the impact and to enable technical teams to commence processes to restore normal operations as swiftly as possible. We kindly urge the public to remain calm and be assured that the situation is under control.

Today, we visited the Olievenhoutbosch Substation, which has burned down due to cable theft and vandalism. The fire erupted around 2 am on the 24th and lasted for the better half of Christmas Day. We would like to appreciate EMS and TMPD for their swift response and efforts to contain this unfortunate incident. The Electricity Department has started the process to restore power and has established that Transformer A has suffered heavy damage and is irreparable; however, the second transformer (Transformer B), has passed all tests and together with Transformer R, which is the spare, will be ready for supplying enough electricity to the affected areas. The specialised dry-ice cleaning has been conducted on the busbars to safely remove fire residue and contaminants without further damaging sensitive electrical equipment, and as the team remains hard at work to replace other components, such as cabling, critical to the safe restoration of power. We would like to apologise to the community members affected by this criminal activity and the inconvenience caused by the fire on our infrastructure and Law Enforcement agencies have started the investigation to bring the perpetrators to book. We furthermore request our residents to exercise patience as the restoration process is delayed by the pouring of rain, which makes it difficult for the technical teams to function optimally. All transformers have been successfully energised and final testing and commissioning processes have commenced. These critical tests are being undertaken to verify network integrity, stability and the safe operation of the substation prior to the commencement of switching. Once all testing and commissioning activities are concluded and the network is confirmed to be stable and the switching team has conclude the work, the residents will be informed about the phases of restoration of electricity supply. According to the wayleaf signed, the developer is not allowed to use a TLB (excavator) to dig as this is going to damage various cables. The agreement is that digging is to be done by manual labour. The first time this cable was damaged, operators managed to backfeed supply but this is now not possible. Last week, the same cable was damaged and it took four days to resolve the outage. While we understand that the community needs services and accommodation, we appeal to the councilors and community leaders to address this concern with the developer. Our team will work swiftly to restore supply but we need you, our valued customers to help us safeguard our electricity infrastructure. Please note that the 33kV cable is unique and has to be ordered. As a result of this, there is no estimated time for restoration. ^TM
