MASS RALLY AGAINST THE IMPOSITION OF VANDE MATARAM. The Naga Students' Federation (NSF) organised a mass public rally in Kohima on March 16 to protest against what it described as the imposition of the song ‘Vande Mataram' during official functions and in educational institutions. Hundreds of students and members of the public gathered in the state capital to express their concern over the issue. The federation stated that making the song mandatory in official events and schools goes against the rights and sentiments of the Naga people. During the rally, participants carried placards and raised slogans while calling for respect for cultural and political sensitivities in the region. NSF leaders also addressed the gathering and urged authorities to reconsider the directive. The federation maintained that any policy affecting the people of Nagaland should respect the state's unique history, identity, and constitutional provisions.
