You have to be extremely careful if you get caught on the counter attack if you use Overload. One through ball and you will be defending a 1v1 or have a 2v1 situation very easily as you can see here when I lost the ball. It’s a very volatile playstyle that is way more vulnerable than Possession Game and Quick Counter so please be careful when you are using Overload 😅

There are so many options in the attack with the 2-6-2. It is like playing with Overload without using the Overload tactic while simultaneously having a better defensive shape. So many times the opponent was forced to commit to one of my attackers which left the other completely free. Also pay attention to Anderson’s movement. He is dropping back with the 2 CBs to form a back 3 even when in possession in the ball. The only time he really joins the midfield is if I am in the final third trying to break down the opponent. I’ve tested this with Pedri in Anderson’s position to see if I am able to consistently form a 3 man midfield when in possession to cause an extreme overload but it looks like it is something coded into the game to create more stability when you lose the ball. hmm…

First look at the new Overload play style. This was against the Legend AI Inter Milan team that was using Out Wide in a 3-1-4-2 setup. It definitely feels like a more upgraded version of Possession Game and you do get a lot of options showing for the ball making it way easier to deal with opponents who like to Pressure spam. Out Wide will definitely be a HARD COUNTER to Overload so be careful if you are using Overload and you run into someone like Xabi Alonso who has Quick Counter and Out Wide because if you lose the ball you will be at a big disadvantage when the inevitable cross field switch comes. We will have to see how it settles after a few weeks but it is best to play in a formation with LMFs or RMFs so you can switch the play against Overload if you do win the ball back so you don’t get instantly suffocated and lose the ball.
