Today I signed our sweeping accept and expend package, which secured more than $130 Million in funding from the federal government. This will fund a range of projects, including EV charging, the Twin Peaks Promenade, and transit improvements in the Bayview. Thank you to the Board of Supervisors for your quick approval.

Ukraine critically lacks missiles not only for Patriot systems but also for other air-defense systems and aviation, Air Force spokesman Yurii Ihnat said, urging people to immediately move to shelters during air alerts. ALERT: Live iguana shipped to a FedEx store jumped out of the package when its new owner opened the box, sending employees running and jumping on the counters. Roderick Duncan went to a FedEx store in Memphis, Tennessee, to pick up a new pet iguana that was shipped to him by a breeder. Employees initially thought it was a fish, and one employee asked to see the lizard once they learned what was in the package. When Duncan opened the bag the iguana was in, it took off and jumped off the counter, running into the back room where Duncan eventually secured the lizard, now named Titan. 📹: chefp_ | IG

Kaja Kallas: the EU has secured 80% of 2 million ammunition rounds pledged to Ukraine. "While all eyes are on what is happening in Iran and in the Middle East, there are people dying in Kyiv, because Russia keeps bombing Ukraine every single day. So we have to keep up the pressure on Russia. That's why we are pushing for the 18th package of sanctions. Also, we have to give the military support to Ukraine. I'm happy to tell you that 80% of the ammunition initiative has already been pledged. But of course we have to do more to have for this year the 2 million rounds initiative fulfilled," Kaja Kallas said.

A few months ago, Volunteers of America called our office. Veterans at the Ritz Veterans Village in Ocala were at risk of losing their housing, and they asked for help. I picked up the phone and called VA Secretary Collins directly. For months, our team worked closely with the VA, VOA, the City of Ocala, and Marion County to put together a new funding package that would keep these veterans housed. I'm proud to report that the funding is secured, and the doors stay open. Starting October 1, the Ritz will operate under a new VA contract that keeps a roof over our veterans' heads. If you or a veteran you know is stuck or has an issue with the VA, call our office at 352-505-0838. 🇺🇸

🇩🇪🇷🇴 Germany’s Rheinmetall lands €4.8 billion Romania defence mega deal in major NATO buildup Germany’s defence industry has secured a major win as Romania approves a €4.8 billion package with Rheinmetall, marking one of the most significant NATO modernization deals in Eastern Europe. The agreement includes up to 298 Lynx KF41 infantry fighting vehicles, along with Skynex and Skyranger 35 air defence systems, Millennium systems, and over 500,000 rounds of 35mm ammunition. Financing is expected to be supported through the EU SAFE programme, designed to rapidly scale up European defence readiness amid rising regional security tensions. The deal highlights Germany’s Rheinmetall as a key pillar of Europe’s accelerating rearmament wave, supplying next-generation armour and integrated air-defence systems to frontline NATO states. I’ve always said that if our banking system collapses, our entire economy and country will collapse. A strong banking system is a must for a nation’s stability. We’ve worked hard and are now seeing results. We’ve secured an $8 billion debt relief package as part of our debt restructuring. Our economy is on the rise again, but we need foreign investment for further growth. Despite fixing the economy, our political system remains broken. Leaders ran away in fear. We need strong, fearless leaders who can face reality, take responsibility, and keep moving forward. The future depends on today’s actions. We need a responsible political system. I united all main parties for disciplined governance, and young MPs have joined us for the country’s future. Let’s keep working to align our political system with our economic progress.

🇺🇸🇷🇺U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham has announced a major legislative breakthrough, confirming that Congress and the White House have finalized an aggressive, veto-proof sanctions package designed to economically strangle the Russian Federation. Speaking directly from Capitol Hill, the veteran Republican senator revealed that high-level negotiations with the White House successfully yielded a unified, consensus version of the dynamic sanctions bill that has secured full executive backing. Graham forcefully made it clear that with the administration's official endorsement locked in, the bill faces an unobstructed path through Congress to be signed into federal law immediately. This bipartisan breakthrough signals a crushing escalation in Washington's economic warfare against the Kremlin, permanently codifying devastating economic penalties into U.S. law. By eliminating any threat of an executive veto, Congress is locking down a unified American foreign policy front, systematically cutting off Moscow's remaining financial lifelines and sending an unmistakable signal that Western economic pressure will continue to intensify until Russia's war machine is completely paralyzed.

🇺🇦🇫🇷Ukraine is set to acquire four next-generation SAMP/T NG air defense batteries from France, financed through the European Union's Ukraine Support Loan (USL) framework. The comprehensive procurement package also includes five Ground Master 400 (GM400) long-range surveillance radars, a Ground Fire 300 (GF300) multifunctional radar capable of ballistic missile tracking and targeting, and one Kronos Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) target acquisition radar. To bridge the capability gap while production is underway, the agreement includes the temporary transfer of two existing SAMP/T batteries to Ukraine, which will be returned to France once the newly ordered SAMP/T NG systems are fully delivered. The first new SAMP/T NG battery is scheduled for delivery in 2027, though its associated GF300 radar will arrive by the end of this year, while all five ordered GM400 radars are slated to be delivered by the end of 2027. Additionally, France and Italy have agreed to redirect Aster 30 interceptor missiles from existing Eurosam contracts directly to Ukraine, with the funding also secured under the USL program. Crucially, Ukraine has been granted a license to domestically produce Aster 30 anti-missile interceptors. Preparations for local manufacturing are expected to wrap up by the end of 2026, with actual production projected to begin as early as the first half of 2027.
