We’re thrilled to share that Outset has raised $17M in Series A funding, led by 8VC to help companies better understand their customers. When michael hess and I founded Outset, we set out to solve a critical problem: truly understanding your customer is painfully slow, expensive, and at times, impossible. It shouldn’t be. We believed AI could change this by focusing on the human side of AI. So we built the world’s first AI-interviewer. An AI agent that asked questions, listened, and learned from real humans. By removing the barriers of traditional research and allowing companies to have deeper conversations with more customers more quickly, we could help teams infuse their products with genuine human understanding at a speed and scale previously impossible. So what was the moment we knew we were onto something? When WeightWatchers ran that first pilot back in early 2023. Participants shared incredible amounts of depth, all with the world’s first AI-interviewer. We got a call the next day from their head of research: "You built a thing. We want that thing. How do I pay you for it?" That validation has turned into explosive growth. We've doubled our revenue in just the last 4 months alone, with >50 enterprise customers like Nestlé, Microsoft, and WeightWatchers trusting us to unlock deeper customer insights. All of this built on the backs of a truly special early team with 0 employee turnover. This funding round was led by 8VC, with participation from an incredible group, including: Future Back Ventures by Bain & Company, Y Combinator / Garry Tan, Adverb Ventures /April Underwood / Jessica Verrilli ), Alt Capital / Jack Altman , Rebel Fund, Genius Ventures, Ritual Capital, and many more. So what's next? We're scaling our engineering and go-to-market teams to build the world's most powerful agentic customer research platform. All focused on one mission: helping companies better understand humans. To our customers, investors, and team - thank you for believing in this vision. Now check out the video to see Outset in action, testing the video itself with real people!

"These new sci-fi, action films, are good but they are not cinema." --- Akira Kurosawa Full Excerpt: "Interviewer: In your older films there was always some concern about human situations. What is the root of this? Kurosawa: When there is talk of humanity in Japan, everyone thinks of complex subjects and stories. However, whatever an ordinary human feels, we try to project on the screen in an honest way. That’s all. Interviewer: You were keen on American cinema… Kurosawa: Regarding American cinema, I could say that much better films were made in the past. Today’s American cinema provides the wrong service to the audience. Violence and car crashes are often seen. What pleasure is there in watching such scenes? Old American films expressed human problems quite well, but these days the American cinema has problems. There is no doubt that a film like 'Jurassic Park' (1993) is interesting, but there used to be more impressive films in the past. In contrast, films, like those of Kiarostami, touch the heart and are very beautiful. These new sci-fi, action films, are good but they are not cinema. Interviewer: In comparison to cinema as entertainment, how do you think Third World artistic cinema can attract a Western audience? Kurosawa: Civilization has poisoned humanity. The backbone of a good film is the filmmaker’s humane character. If we are not honest to ourselves, we will never be able to make decent films. Actually, it doesn’t mean that if a country is well off, it is necessarily capable of making good films. A person, who is able to make good films, knows how to find his or her way into the viewer’s heart; such as John Ford, Jean Renoir, John Huston, Federico Fellini, Angelopoulos, Sidney Lumet… I’ve met every one of them and have spoken to them. Just as they have exceptional works, they were also very distinguished in character. It was very easy to establish a cordial relationship with them, which is quite important. The people that are depicted on screen in their films are not predetermined (molded) characters. They express human problems in a natural way. That’s why their films are fascinating. Sidney Lumet is a close friend of mine, and whenever we sit down to talk we never discuss cinema. We generally discuss trivial matters, social problems or our hobbies, and we quite enjoy it. Reporters always ask me what the content of my film is and I tell them that there is no such a thing. I say ordinary things. A film is not supposed to be a lecture." (Akira Kurosawa's interview with Maani Petgar, 1998) Clip from: Jurassic Park (1993) Director: Steven Spielberg

Elon Musk just explained how you build a trillion-dollar company overnight and most people completely missed what he actually said. Musk: “As soon as you unlock digital human, you basically have access to trillions of dollars of revenue.” That sounds like hype until you break down what he means. The most valuable companies on Earth do not manufacture anything. Apple does not build iPhones. They send digital files to a factory in China. Microsoft does not build hardware. Their entire output is code. Google. Meta. Digital. Digital. Every single company sitting at the top of the global economy produces exactly one thing. Keystrokes. The entire modern economy runs on human beings staring at screens and pressing buttons. Now build an AI that does that at the same level a human does. Not a chatbot. Not an assistant. A full digital human that reads a screen, understands context, and operates software the same way a person does. You just unlocked access to every revenue stream those companies sit on. Not in ten years. Not after some massive infrastructure overhaul. Immediately. The entire enterprise AI conversation right now is stuck on integration. How do you connect AI to corporate systems. How do you build custom APIs. How do you rip out decades of bloated software and rebuild it from scratch. Musk just skipped all of it. A digital human does not need an API. It does not care how old or broken your system is. It logs into the same dashboard your employee uses. Reads the same screen. Clicks the same buttons. Processes the same information. Zero integration. Zero rebuild. Zero friction. You do not renovate the building. You just replace who is sitting at the desk. That changes the math on every industry overnight. Customer service alone is one percent of the entire global economy. That is hundreds of billions of dollars flowing through an industry that consists almost entirely of people reading text and typing responses. No factory involved. No raw materials. No shipping. No physical supply chain. Pure digital labor. The moment a digital human crosses the threshold where it handles that work at human level the cost structure of the entire industry collapses to near zero. And customer service is just the first domino. Accounting. Legal review. Insurance claims. Medical billing. IT support. Every single one of those is the same equation. Humans reading screens and producing digital output. A digital human does not disrupt those industries. It absorbs them. No integration required. No permission needed. No ten-year rollout plan. Log in and take over the workflow. The companies that understand this right now are building the most valuable entities the world has ever seen. The ones that do not are going to wake up one morning and realize the entire revenue model they built over decades just got replicated at a fraction of the cost by something that never sleeps and never stops. Musk did not make a prediction on that podcast. He gave you the blueprint. And the clock is already running.

Pfida: A New Way to Own Your Home Without Riba Debt Pfida (formerly known as Primary Finance) is built around the idea of putting people first. Even its name "Pfida" means “benefit” or “goodness” across several languages. Its goal is to make home ownership more accessible, flexible, and fair especially for people who want to avoid traditional mortgages and "islamic" mortagages. Instead of lending money, the company buys a property together with the customer. The customer puts in a deposit and co-owns part of the home, while the company owns the rest. The customer then pays rent only on the portion they don’t own. Over time, they can choose to buy more of the property whenever they want, gradually increasing their ownership and reducing their rent. Unlike a conventional mortgage or an "islamic" mortgage there is no loan, no interest, and NO OBLIGATION to make fixed payments toward ownership. Customers have full flexibility. They can buy more equity when they can afford to, buy less if money is tight, or simply pay rent without pressure. This removes the risk of default and repossession that comes with traditional riba mortgages and "islamic" mortagages. The entire experience is managed through an app, where customers can adjust their payments, decide how much equity to buy, and see the financial impact of their choices. This gives them full control over their journey to home ownership. Legally, the arrangement is based on a simple rental agreement. Buying additional shares of the property is optional and separate, meaning there is no enforced debt or obligation. Rent is set based on local market rates rather than interest rates and is reviewed periodically like a normal rental. The overall model is designed to be fair, flexible, and genuinely partnership based. In simple terms, it allows someone to live in a home they partly own, pay rent on the rest, and gradually buy it outright at their own pace without taking on any debt. Raza Ullah from Pfida | Pfida

How did a company from Shenzhen come to dominate Africa's cell phone industry? It accepts African markets as they are, not as it wishes they were. While some companies enter African markets with capital intensive Silicon Valley-style 'blitzscaling' approaches, China's Transsion entered the continent with a 'deep-plowing' strategy What's 'deep plowing'? An intensive, long-term approach of cultivating land to grow crops. For Transsion, 'deep plowing' means starting from the bottom up with the most underserved customers, building extensive distribution networks, localizing products significantly, and investing in consumer trust to cultivate long-term market dominance: • Customer 'deep plowing' — While competitors focused on premium urban consumers, Transsion targeted lower-income and underserved users, especially those in rural & peri-urban areas. • Distribution 'deep plowing' — Transsion embeds itself in the informal retail networks that dominate electronic sales on the continent, employing thousands of agents to reach places competitors don't and establishing physical retail depth from factory to final sale. • Product 'deep plowing' — Transsion went beyond superficial adaptation, spent years studying local needs & behaviors, and modified hardware and software accordingly, including pioneering multi-SIM phones in African markets. • Service 'deep plowing' — One of Transsion's deepest 'plows' is its investment in after-sales service. While many electronics have no official repair centers locally, Transsion established the Carlcare network, Africa's largest mobile after-sales service network. • Brand 'deep plowing' — Transsion created a brand ladder to cover the entire income spectrum: ultra-budget itel devices, performance-focused Infinixes, and aspirational Techno phones. This allows the company to capture customers as their incomes grow, instead of losing them to competitors. Transsion didn't win Africa's cell phone market by building for the Africa of tomorrow. They won by 'deep plowing' for the Africa that exists today. h/t Miao Lu whose research on Transsion informs this post — check out the links below 👇🏽

A Virginia Beach mom taught herself how barcodes work and started printing coupons from her home computer. She built a $31 MILLION scheme mailing them to strangers before anyone noticed. – Lori Ann Talens went by "MasterChef" online, running the operation quietly from her house in Virginia Beach starting around April 2017. – She was a self-taught graphic designer who figured out exactly how retail barcode systems worked, then used that to build counterfeit coupons that were nearly identical to the real thing. – Her coupons were deliberately inflated, sometimes offering more than an item's full retail price, letting buyers walk out with products completely free. – She found customers through Facebook and Telegram groups full of "extreme couponing" enthusiasts, and shipped the fake coupons out through USPS and private couriers. – For every $1 a customer paid her, they received about $50 worth of counterfeit savings. – She was paid over $400,000 total, some of it in Bitcoin, and at times bartered coupons directly for stolen rolls of the special thermal paper stores use to print real receipts and coupons. – It took three years before anyone caught on. – The scheme was finally flagged by the Coupon Information Corporation, an industry group that monitors coupon fraud, after a tip came in. – When the FBI raided her house, agents said they found counterfeit coupons "in every crevice," plus digital designs for more than 13,000 different products stored on her computer. – Investigators calculated the total damage to retailers and manufacturers at $31,817,997. – She was sentenced in 2021 to 12 years in federal prison. – Her husband, who helped ship the coupons, got 7 years and 3 months. – The case didn't stop there. – Federal prosecutors kept charging her bulk customers for years afterward, with the final defendant sentenced as recently as mid-2026. One woman with a computer and a self-taught understanding of barcodes did more damage to retailers than most organized theft rings ever manage. It took three years and an industry watchdog group to even notice.

The Intrinsic Value of Proof of Work: From Physical Foundations to Kaspa’s Digital Diamonds Everything around you right now, from the chair you’re sitting in to the curtains hanging by the window, exists because energy was expended to mine, harvest, shape, and create it. Steel beams in skyscrapers, textiles in carpets, even the digital devices you’re using - all began as raw materials that required significant energy and human effort to process into valuable, usable forms. This principle underlies not only the physical world but also the digital one, specifically embodied in the concept of Proof of Work (PoW) Energy as the Core of Value Energy is the true universal currency. Without it, nothing of value can exist. Proof of Work leverages this universal truth by ensuring the digital currencies and data we trust are anchored firmly in real-world energy and effort. Bitcoin pioneered this idea, proving that digital assets could embody intrinsic value through the significant expenditure of energy required for mining. Just as physical buildings store intrinsic value through the energy expended to construct them - concrete mixed, metals forged, and labor invested - digital currencies like Bitcoin gain their authenticity and value from the electricity and computational power invested to mine them. PoW ensures trustworthiness precisely because counterfeiting or fraud would require repeating vast amounts of costly work. Introducing Kaspa: Beyond Digital Gold While Bitcoin has often been called digital gold - stable, secure, but somewhat limited - Kaspa enters as something superior. Kaspa isn’t digital silver or gold; it’s digital diamonds. Diamonds are harder, tougher, and far more resilient. They are forged through pressure and immense energy, creating unmatched durability and inherent value. Kaspa mirrors this process digitally, achieving exceptional resilience, security, and efficiency by refining and enhancing the foundational PoW principles. Kaspa employs a sophisticated blockDAG structure, enabling multiple blocks to be mined and confirmed simultaneously. This dramatically enhances speed and scalability without compromising the essential energy -backed security model. Much like a perfectly cut diamond, every aspect of Kaspa’s structure is intentionally designed, optimising energy usage and maximising value. Digital Diamonds: Kaspa’s Unique Brilliance A diamond’s true beauty is revealed when held up to the light, sparkling vividly, displaying an impressive spectrum of colors. Similarly, Kaspa sparkles in the blockchain space, each facet highlighting unique capabilities: speed, scalability, fairness, decentralisation, and security. This multifaceted brilliance underscores its immense potential as the ultimate evolution of Proof of Work. Even gold, secure as it may be, often serves merely as a placeholder - waiting to be crowned by something even more exceptional such as diamonds. Kaspa, with its innovative and efficient Proof of Work implementation, is ready to claim that crown. Just as diamonds have long symbolised the pinnacle of physical wealth and beauty, Kaspa represents the pinnacle of digital value - stronger, more secure, and the TRILEMMA SOLVER truly worthy of admiration. A New Era of Digital Value Kaspa redefines how we perceive Proof of Work, underscoring that energy, far from being wasted, is the very foundation upon which true digital value is built. Like diamonds, Kaspa harnesses this energy, transforming it into something rare, resilient, and radiant. It embodies not just the security of digital gold but the unmatchable, multifaceted brilliance of diamonds - proving that in the digital realm, true value still comes from real, substantial work. #kaspa #digitaldiamonds #digitalcommodity $kas #ProofOfWork #CryptoSummit #fasterbetterstronger David Sacks Bo Hines Senator Tim Scott Kaspa 404 DYOR (commentary) CZ 🔶 BNB Brian Armstrong Jesse Powell Tyler Winklevoss Kris Dr Martin Hiesboeck President Donald J.
