As the world's attention is largely fixated on the war between Israel and Hamas in the Middle East, unrest has erupted in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in South Asia. The objection by the representative of India to Pakistan's mention of Jammu and Kashmir in the Arria Formula meeting was not surprising to us. India, as a party to the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, has actually refused to implement the Security Council resolutions on this dispute, and has even refused to cooperate with the United Nations, including the good offices of the Secretary-General, and with all those mechanisms that form part of Chapter VI. As I stated in my statement, Kashmir is an international dispute. It is on the agenda of the Security Council. It was never a part of India, and it is not, and cannot be, part of India — because this was the core question at the heart of these Security Council resolutions on Jammu and Kashmir. The purpose was to determine the status of this territory: whether it wishes to be part of India or Pakistan. That status has not yet been determined, because the resolutions have not been implemented. To assert that Kashmir is a part of India is, in fact, itself a violation of the relevant Security Council resolutions. Islamabad: JUI Chief Maulana Fazl ur Rehman attended the 3rd Joint Consultative Meeting (JCM) of Political Parties of Pakistan and China on #CPEC, held today in Islamabad. The event was co-chaired by the Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan and Mr. Liu Jianchao, Minister of International Department of the Communist Party of China. Maulana Fazl ur Rehman: There is a consensus in Pakistan regarding Pak-China relations. Pak-China friendship has always transcended our political differences. Pakistan attaches importance to peaceful co-existence and cooperative relations in the region and supports progress towards it. Pakistan believes in peaceful and equitable resolution of disputes. We are grateful that China has always supported Pakistan unconditionally on the Kashmir issue and Pakistan has also always supported China unconditionally on the Taiwan issue. Pak-China relations, which were mentioned by the speakers before me, is a shared vision of all of us and I am proud that JUI Pakistan and CPEC are friends and we want to make this friendship meaningful and see it beneficial for the people of both countries. The credit for the progress made in this regard also goes to the Parliament of Pakistan and the CPC when in 1995 the CPC (China) invited the Foreign Committee of the National Assembly of Pakistan and briefed us on the new economic vision. Then on behalf of Pakistan, we presented Pakistan's "Trade Via Pakistan" concept. And for seven days, we discussed this topic in every meeting continuously, and after seven days, the CPEC informed our delegation that they supported the proposal. I regret that by today it should have been completed, but some obstacles have definitely come in the middle, which are a matter of concern for us as well as for you, but China-Pakistan's commitment to CPEC is strong. With this commitment, we also have to complete all the suspended projects and Insha-Allah we have to lay the foundations of cooperation with each other in different fields, take them forward and China & Pakistan will prove to be the top priority in each other's friendship and relations all over the world and no obstacle will be allowed in it. At Thang, the last border village, a tourist woman named Suman Bhat was being briefed by a local girl while showing the last village, Faranu, in Pakistan-occupied Gilgit-Baltistan. During the briefing, certain words were concerning. The girl referred to the visible agricultural land and the village of Farano simply as 'Pakistan's agriculture' and 'a Pakistani village.' I respectfully object to this description. Oh my God! Probably this sort of treatment from a host state has never been extended to a visiting Foreign Minister of any country. #India had always considered #Pakistan as a legitimate party to #JammuAndKashmir dispute in the past. But it seems those times are over now. There is no doubt that only India and the people of #JammuKashmir are two parties to this dispute. India was invited into #Jammu and #Kashmir to fight against Pakistan and push out the invading #Pakistani troops and citizens; but instead #Indian Establishment allowed Pakistan to continue her illegal occupation of #POJK & #GilgitBaltistan and completely failed to carry out the constitutional duties for which India had been invited. We once again ask India to fulfil her constitutional duties regarding Jammu & Kashmir and then hold meaningful dialogue with the people of Jammu Kashmir.
