What we really need is our society as a whole in the United States to make metal and glass cheaper to drink out of plastic is way cheaper and that's why everything is plastic. Our government needs to make it so plastic is more expensive than anything else and we will stop using

Most “paper” cups aren’t really just paper. They need a plastic lining to keep hot coffee from soaking through. Research has shown that heat can cause that lining to release microplastics and even smaller particles into the drink. The hotter the liquid, the more concerning the exposure appears to be. We still have a lot to learn about what chronic microplastic exposure means for human health, but reducing unnecessary exposure makes sense. I’ll take glass or stainless steel whenever I have the choice.
